Mixed bell peppers stuffed with ground beef & rice, topped with a flavorful tomato gravy and served with mashed potatoes & sweet baby carrots.

But you KNOW Vintage Thursday needs a vintage dessert…

🍰 KENTUCKY BUTTER CAKE!

This old-fashioned favorite dates back at least to the 1963 Pillsbury Bake-Off era. Its claim to fame is that wonderful buttery-sugar sauce that soaks down into the cake, making every bite incredibly moist, buttery and sweet. 😋

Sounds like something that belongs in The Spoon dessert case, doesn't it?

Can only Chefs make great food?

No culinary degrees. No fancy white coats. No dramatic plating with one tiny sprig of parsley placed with tweezers.

Around here, nobody gets called “Chef.”

Just a bunch of really good cooks who learned from moms, grandmas, years in the kitchen, and occasionally from burning something and figuring out not to do that again.

So after careful consideration, we’ve decided not to promote anyone to Chef just yet.

But if there’s ever an official title for “Lady Who Can Make Gravy for 150 People Without Measuring Anything,” we’ve got several highly qualified candidates. 😂

We’ll just keep calling ourselves cooks.
