Last Friday night one of my favorite customers told me his โ€œPopsโ€ received the Congressional Medal of Honor. ๐ŸŽ–๏ธ๐Ÿช–๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ Wowโ—๏ธโ—๏ธโ—๏ธ

I have concluded this is a term of endearment and he meant they served together ๐Ÿซก

A very well deserved recognition after many years! His story is posted in the comments.

The Gary and Dottie Capers Foundation is a charitable organization established by retired U.S. Marine Corps Major James Capers Jr.. He created the foundation in honor of his late wife, Dottie, who passed away from cancer, and his late son, Gary.๐Ÿฅฐ

Coincidentally we had several Veterans dining in that night. Two of which also served in Vietnam. I wondered if they knew โ€œPopsโ€ too?!?

Needless to say we enjoyed our at Hibachi USA ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

It is indeed a small ๐ŸŒ after all!๐ŸŽถโค๏ธ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™

Learn Our History Today:

๐Ÿ—“๏ธOn August 17, 1786, famous frontiersman David โ€œDavyโ€ Crockett was born in Greene County, Tennessee. Over the course of his lifetime, Crockett became an American folk hero,
and his exploits have since accorded with almost mythical status. Davy Crockett spent much of his childhood in the mountains of East Tennessee, where he honed his skills as a hunter and woodsman. He then joined a group of Tennessee Volunteers during the War of 1812 time period, serving as a scout during fighting with the Creeks. Following the Creek War, Davy served in the Tennessee State Legislature and then the U.S. Congress.
๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธWhile serving in Congress he was constantly in opposition to the policies of President Andrew Jackson, especially the Indian Removal Act. This was highly unusual as both were from the same state and shared similar backgrounds. Davyโ€™s opposition to Jackson led to him not being reelected in the 1834 elections. Angered greatly by this failure, Davy decided to depart to the pristine country that was the Mexican state of Tejas. In early 1836, Davy Crockett won immortality for himself by participating in the Texas Revolution. He famously took part in the Battle of the Alamo, in which he and fellow Texan soldiers defended the fort down to the last man. The battle won for Davy everlasting fame, but at the cost of his life.
๐Ÿ“–While he was alive, Davy Crockett gained great renown largely from several plays and books that were written about his life. They told of his numerous frontier exploits, such as hunting and fighting Indians. For the most part, his actions were incredibly embellished and accorded with an almost mythical status. Later during the 20th Century, Davy Crockett and the legend surrounding him once again became extremely prominent in popular culture. Numerous movies and TV shows have dealt with the life of Davy Crockett, and he is without a doubt one of those most prominent figures of the American frontier. ๐Ÿ“บ

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธLearn Our History: On July 26, 1775, the United States Postal Service was established, with Benjamin Franklin being named the first Postmaster General. Franklin, who had experience as the postmaster of Philadelphia, put
into place an impressive mail delivery system with routes going from Florida to Maine, in addition to service across the Atlantic to Great Britain.

๐Ÿ“ซAmerican mail delivery has gone through many changes since 1775. The Post Office became an independent government agency in 1971 โ€“ as an independent establishment the USPS receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage and products.

๐Ÿ’ŒToday, the postal service delivers more mail than any other post in the world - serving 163 million addresses in the country and handling millions of pieces of mail each day. Over 516,000 people are employed with the USPS. These individuals work at more than 31,000 different offices spread out over the entire country.
