For 40 years, Yaga’s has been more than just a place to grab a bite or a drink. It’s where friendships were made, memories were created, and for some, love stories began.
As we celebrate our 40th anniversary, we’re sharing some of the love stories that started right here at Yaga’s!
First up, Kaleb & Mardie Cornitius ❤️
“ Mardie and I first met in 2015 when we were both hired a couple months apart from each other at Yaga’s; she was a server and I was checking ID’s. After countless rejections from Mardie because ‘it’d be weird if we dated because we were friends and she was my boss,’ she finally relented, and we’ve never looked back.
We worked more shifts together as time went on than we didn’t, getting to the point where Mike had to tell Mardie that she can’t only be happy at work when I was there, and Mike trying to lure me away from Yaga’s by offering managing roles at his other establishments.
During COVID, I started to think hard about what I wanted my future to look like, and even though there were a lot of questions, the one thing I knew was that I wanted Mardie to be with me every step of the way, so I popped the question on a trip to New York, and we got married in December of 2020.
We’ve now moved around the country quite a bit since getting married, welcomed our amazing son Ollie to the world in 2025, but every time we come back home, we make sure to stop at Yaga’s to remember where it all started.”
Have a Yaga’s love story or favorite memory of your own? Send it our way! We’d love to share it as we celebrate 40 years of Peace, Love & Soul. ❤️
