This is a post I never imagined I would have to make.
After nearly two years of waiting, planning, purchasing equipment and preparing for the day we could finally open our doors, Sip A Latte will not be opening the Galloway Township storefront we announced in 2024.
For almost two years, I have kept what was happening behind the scenes largely private. Every time someone asked, “When is the coffee shop opening?” I hoped the next update would finally be the one where I could give you a date.
Instead, this chapter has officially come to an end.
I know the biggest question is probably how we went from announcing a storefront to never opening it, and unfortunately there isn’t one simple answer. It was almost two years of delays, changing timelines, continued investment and significant financial losses that deeply impacted our small business — and, ultimately, the termination of our lease before we ever had the opportunity to open our doors.
I also want to clarify something because I know there has been a lot of speculation over the last two years: while there were delays involving various approvals and infrastructure along the way, Galloway Township was not ultimately the reason this storefront never opened.
I know many of you have questions. I’ve wanted to answer them for a long time, but I needed to wait until everything was officially finalized before speaking publicly.
It is now finalized.
I’ve recorded a full rundown of what happened — from the day we signed the lease through the delays and everything that happened along the way, to eventually packing an entire coffee shop into storage without ever serving a single cup inside of it.
It’s a long story, not because there was one huge thing that happened overnight, but because there were nearly two years of things that led us here. I’ll be sharing the full story in parts shortly for anyone who has been wondering what happened.
For everyone who waited with us, asked about us, rooted for us and genuinely couldn’t wait to sit down and have coffee with us there: I’m sorry we never got that day.
This isn’t the end of Sip A Latte.
