We are flipping 🥞 out over here because it’s almost time for our annual Discovery Kitchen in partnership with The Cooke County Library! 📚

The Discovery Kitchen will be held on Wednesday, June 24 at 12:30pm in the meeting room. Please note that space is limited! There will be 35 spots available, and the food demo is geared towards children 3 years of age and up. We do ask participants to register over the phone or in person to reserve your spot! Parents of older children who do not need assistance may also be asked to wait outside during the demonstration. Call the library at 940-668-5530 to reserve your spot now!

Get excited! A Discovery Kitchen is an interactive food demonstration and education event where kids will get the opportunity to put a recipe together with members of the Child Nutrition Team and learn about the foods they are eating! This Discovery Kitchen, however, is inspired by a book from our very own Library. We will read “Plenty of Pancakes” and then do the food demonstration with ingredients in the book.

P.S. Don’t forget, Free meals for kids 18 & under are served at the library on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:30am-12:15pm! Grab the free meal then head on into the Discovery Kitchen.

🍕🌭🍔🐔🌮 This Week's Menu Joke! 🌮🐔🍔🌭🍕

A hot dog, burger, chicken sandwich, pizza, and walking taco were arguing about who was the most popular lunch.

The hot dog said, "I'm the top dog!"

The burger said, "I'm the big deal around here!"

The chicken sandwich replied, "Quit squawking—I rule the roost!"

The pizza smiled and said, "Everybody wants a piece of me!"

The walking taco just laughed and said, "You can all stay here and argue... I'm already walking away with the win!" 😂

🌞🍎 Week 2 is in the books, and y'all are showing up hungry for summer fun!

We’re excited to share that we served 2,420 FREE summer meals to children and families across our community this week! 🎉

Once again, a huge thank you to our dedicated staff and families who make this program such a success. Together, we're ensuring that no child misses out on nutritious meals when school is out.

📣 Summer Meals Update! 📣

Attention Lexington Square Apartments families and Gainesville High School Cafeteria goers! These FREE Summer Meals sites have a small serving time adjustment. ⏰

Lexington Square Apartments: The new serving time will be 12:45pm-1:30pm (vs. 12:45pm-1:45pm).

Gainesville High School Cafeteria LUNCH ONLY TIME CHANGE: The new lunch serving time will be 11:30am-12:30pm
(vs. 11:30am-12:45pm).

Don't forget, the Food Truck is at the Cooke County Library every Monday & Wednesday and Lexington Square Monday-Thursday for lunch. The Chalmers Elementary Cafeteria and Gainesville High School Cafeteria are open for breakfast AND lunch Monday-Thursday.
