Hello Popcorn Family,
Iām here with an update Iāve been putting off, but itās time to be honest (while keeping it as light as possible).
As many of you know, Iāve been in this cancer fight for a while. The latest scans show new tumors in my chest on both sides and lymph nodes that decided to misbehave. And because life enjoys plot twists, I passed another kidney stoneātiny rock, big drama. Consider it a collectible no one asked for.
Iām in palliative care to better manage my pain while I stay on a daily treatment that we hope will shrink the tumors. If it doesnāt, weāll consider clinical trials. These werenāt the results we were hoping for, quite the opposite in fact. If the tumors do not shrink, and if new growth continues, I am likely to lose my fight to cancer within a yearās time. My next scan is scheduled for December 17, so weāll know more then.
Through it all, Iām gratefulāfor my care team, my family, and for all of you whoāve shown up with love and encouragement. My āChildren of the Cornā keep me laughing and moving forward, whether they mean to or not. They are cooking up a celebration (more to come) and I hope to see you there. With the holiday season upon us, Iām missing you all a little extra.
Your prayers, notes, photos, and kind words mean the world to me. Closing the shop and being in this situation with my health was never on my bingo card. Many of you have asked how to help. My family has launched a GoFundMe: http://spot.fund/rtvj931sc to help with ongoing medical and day-to-day costs. If youāre compelled, please donate or share the link.
On the popcorn front, Iām sharing my recipes with Wendy & Mike Loeserālongtime friends and Ohio State Fair cookie legendsāas they explore their next chapter. I canāt wait to see what they do with them (and yes, Iāll insist on sampling the Cheddar).
Iām still finding joyāsmall adventures, family time, bucket list experiences, and the simple moments (like the first snowfall, even if none of us can drive in it). Life looks different these days, but itās still good.
Thank you all for walking beside me. Iāll share updates as I have them, including the December 17 scan results.
With love, gratitude, and a little popcorn dust,
Pam
