This is the last week that I will be at Boston Annie's liquidating. If you haven't come in to see me, please do. We were open almost 9 years in this oh-so-small community and that's saying a lot!!!

We made a really grand attempt at raising enough funds for a food truck. But that's okay. Everybody who brought a t-shirt, bought a memory. And I Thank You! from the bottom of my heart ❤️

I'm ready to move on to my next chapter. I'm going to put together a nice little announcement tonight with some really cool memorable photos...

So if you don't mind, would you kindly come in, give me a hug goodbye, and buy some of this stuff!

I've got the large divider screens you can divide a room or your yard, I got boxes of small wares. One Price, just take the whole box. charcuterie picks, boards and those cute little individual boxes, coffee urns, the black counter where we took your orders, the cute white stackable... Oh we still have the slicer too, the microwave and the microwave stand, the table sets that are brand new in the box with the umbrella in the bases. Remember we were doing an outdoor seating area. And then the sewer line broke. UGH! So sad.

HELP ME OUT HERE! Every time I'm in there my heart gets broken a little more so I just need it gone so that my next chapter can begin.

And if you're a dumpster diver and you're just waiting for me to throw it away, fahgeddaboudit. I'm donating it.

To our amazing customers and community:

As many of you know, our shop has been closed due to major sewer line and plumbing issues that have gone unresolved much longer than expected.

Instead of waiting any longer, we’re making a move to bring our subs back to you from a food truck so we can get back to doing what we love—serving our community.

The good news is we already have part of what we need to make this happen. Right now, we’re working through the remaining build-out, inspections, permits, and all the final steps to get rolling.

THIS IS UNFAIR TREATMENT OF MY SMALL BUSINESS. THIS HAS TO STOP! PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING AND SUPPORT ME IN THIS.

I am extremely frustrated and deeply concerned by the treatment my business has received.

Today, a CC&I building inspector came to my shop and informed me that I am not allowed to conduct catering or any other business operations from my location, stating that the permitting office directed him to deliver this message. This comes after code enforcement has already visited twice, claiming they were instructed by leadership to ensure I am not operating.

What makes this even more troubling is the lack of transparency. I have repeatedly requested a copy of the report from May 12th, when I was told to cease operating as “to-go only” due to a plumbing issue involving the toilet. The floor was opened for repairs on May 13th, yet I have still been denied access to that report.

I was told by the head of CC&I, Mr. Willis, that I did not need the report because I was “working with them.” However, the only documentation I have seen is a memo addressed to Kelly Curtis, which states that Inspector Farmer was considering allowing me a temporary 90-day period to continue operating as to-go only. This was weeks after he closed me down.

While we were having toilet issues and serving as to-go only, Gibson's variety as well as the guardian ad litem, our neighbors, gave permission for us permission to utilize their restrooms. In addition, the visitor center is across the street with the public restroom.
All to stay open while we were awaiting the plumber. We were next on their list.

The justification now being presented is that my business allegedly has a grease trap where wastewater runs through. This is simply inaccurate. My establishment does not serve fried food, does not have fryers, does not produce grease waste, and does not have a grease trap. Additionally, I do not have a fire suppression hood system, which would be required for frying operations. I would question why a building inspector would make such assumptions in lieu of accurate statements.

I am asking for accountability, transparency, and fair treatment. Small business owners work hard to follow the rules, and we deserve clear communication and accurate enforcement—not contradictory directives and unsupported claims.

They just put this on my door now. CC&I inspector John Farmer should have put this on my door on May 12, 2026 when he shut down my business!

In case you haven’t heard...

The cast iron sewer pipes under our building have what plumbers call “very severe trench rot.” That was discovered on May 13th after they excavated a 2’x4’ hole, 3 feet deep, in our bathroom to assess the damage. A large section of pipe was cut out and capped that same day to help control sewer gases from leaking into Boston Annie’s.

Today, June 23rd — six weeks later — it’s still exactly the same.

A big gaping hole. The stench of sewage in the air. No repairs. No reopening. No bustling Boston Annie’s filled with amazing food and familiar faces.

After weeks of waiting, we finally heard from the landlord that the plumbers have “run into a roadblock” accessing the sewer line — especially since it runs underneath another property before connecting to the city’s main line. Meanwhile, meetings with the BPW and building inspectors continue with no clear solution.

And to make matters worse? State Farm has denied coverage for the loss of food, income, business interruption, and utility interruption because apparently I didn’t have specific cast iron sewer pipeline coverage.

So here we are.

A small business that has fought through COVID-19, devastating floods, water heater failures, and countless obstacles is now facing one of its toughest battles yet — a sewer line failure completely beyond our control.

CHANNEL 7 NEWS — are you listening?

Boston Annie’s is not the first business in Gaffney to experience cast iron sewer pipe failure this past year. I believe we’re the third. These pipes are old, failing, and affecting local businesses, yet there seems to be no proactive plan in place.

But let me make one thing clear:

Boston Annie’s is NOT going down without a fight.

We’ve spent 9 incredible years building something special. From winning the 2017 Gaffney Main Street Challenge, to serving Limestone students, faculty, parents, and this amazing community — Boston Annie’s became more than a business. It became family.

And now, we pivot.

Same great food. Same positive vibes. New direction.

Boston Annie’s is going mobile. We’re moving into a food truck.

To help us make this transition, we’re launching a T-shirt drive — a way for our loyal customers, friends, and community to carry a piece of Boston Annie’s into this next chapter with us.

We wish we were serving sandwiches instead of chasing plumbing repairs, but we're making the most of this unexpected downtime.
