Dear Duke Energy,
Early Last month you cost us over $6k in damages because a 35 year old transformer malfunctioned and blew two of our fuzes. You admitted to it. You gave me the number to contact claims. I did. I showed them photographs of over $4k worth of wasted CoGs in the dumpster. My refrigerator that burnt up? Well it’s still sitting out back and I had to buy a new one for $2,000+. We found out after DHEC came in two days after we got our power back on (Thank God for the “when it rains it pours”). We have a 100 again now by the way. We clean and deep clean every day.
We pay he same dollar per square foot as Spartanburg Regional next door. Yeah, I pay the same dollar per sqft as a Multi-Billion dollar company. I admit that that’s my fault. I also will openly admit that if I had my Alma Mater here we wouldn’t be in this predicament, this city …. Wouldn’t be in this predicament….
We have had the slowest summer to date ( too include the summer of 2020) and we’re struggling. There’s no doubt about that. All of us small businesses are struggling. These landlords and lady’s think that this town has some kind of mysterious way of making small businesses money and that is not the case. Anyways, I’m not reaching out to the community (as you all continue to support us the best that you possibly can and I’m internally grateful) I’m reaching out to Duke Energy to question why my electric is almost $2,000 a month but more importantly so that you get a claim adjustor attached to my claim number: 1109359 and get us paid back what you accidentally took from us. I don’t have much time as my landlady is demanding me for the rent and threatening more late fees… so if someone knows someone over at Duke Energy who knows someone over at Life at Sedgwick…. Please for the love of God talk to them or mention them in this post. I’m. Currently 8 days late on rent as I had to pay for the fridge and Labor. I really don’t want to close down but us small businesses usually ride such a tight financial rope that it currently looks inevitable. Deep down in my heart I’m sure that’s what my landlady wants because she still hasn’t painted the walls to my building white which was part of our agreement moving in, but who knows …. Anyways I hope someone with some kind of power sees this…. And God encourages them to do what’s right…. Have a blessed day.

*** Edit in the mean time someone just donated 50 cups of kindness.
