Did you hear the news?!
We are so excited to have sold our building to someone who loves the building like we do, is a Fredericktown resident and enjoys small town life, and wanted to ensure Fredericktown has a high quality steakhouse.
They will be doing some of the same things, offering some of the same menu items, yet putting their own flare on all of it.
We hope you all will welcome them in as you did for us for so many years. We all missed the steaks for the past three years. We CAN NOT WAIT to sink our teeth into what they have to offer!
Welcome to the neighborhood, Mad Cow Steakhouse!

This is the real Olympic Steakhouse page. We were not hacked, but someone who apparently loves to stir the pot created a new FB page with our name and profile pictures.
I have reported as theft of intellectual property and was subsequently blocked. We would like to encourage all to report the fake page.
I think they should be forced to lick the spoon, but also they need their mouth washed out with a little soap.

Due to overwhelming questions and inquiries I have decided to make this post public on our page.
We are ready to come back. We haven't figured it all out, but we wanted to tell you all how much we appreciate the fact that you appreciate us as well. We rarely go a day without a message from one of our patrons. 😊
So here's the scoop:
It is not true that we are closed for good. We get asked nearly daily if we are going to reopen and the answer is still the same. Yes, but not yet.
We have not reopened, but plan to. There are a few logistical issues that we haven't manuevered yet. We have the prices and availability of the meat (in the quality that we demand) that we have to consider. We simply will not serve inferior products, nor charge exorbitant prices. This is one of the challenges we face.
One other consideration has to do with COVID. We can be as cautious as possible, but still have many risks. Many of these are dependent on people's perceptions, rather than the reality of this situation. We believe it is very real and that it can be deadly to those that are in a susceptible position. We also believe that we can not live our lives in fear. That being said- there are people on polarizing sides. We have the group on one extreme that believes that it would be selfish and greedy for us to reopen our business because of the risks involved and the other extreme that believes we are "adding to the hype" if we don't. We are playing a wait and see attitude. We can not stay this way indefinitely and we are so ready to get back to work.
The most recent issue has to do with the tragic and sudden death of our son-in-law. We are still grieving this loss and we just aren't quite ready to get back in it.
Thank you for inquiring. We appreciate everyone's support and concern. :)

Miss us yet? 😊
Olympic Steakhouse is getting many requests for us to reopen so I thought it about time to let everyone in on how things are going.
We hope to reopen very soon, but there are a few logistical issues we need to address before we are able to do that. The main one is being able to ensure a steady supply of beef products with the quality and consistency that we have become known for. Anything less will be unacceptable. Once we get everything cleared and confirmed we will come back in full force. We'll post an update here.
We kinda miss you all too. 💖

Olympic Steakhouse staff want to wish you all safety and peace during this time.
We have made the difficult decision to remain closed for the time being. Curbside service wasn't really a viable option for us at this time. We will continue to monitor day by day what our plans will be. We would like to get our employees back to work, but the risk to their health and families is top priority. We have spoken to our employees and it was becoming evident that they were becoming increasingly worried about this. Not one was unwilling to take a shift as needed though. This goes to show the solidarity we have. We are a team and family here.
Thank you for your patience and your continued support. We hope to see all of you very soon.

I hope this doesn't seem petty, but I feel this needs to be said. This is partially in response to the person that posted this nasty message on our page, but also to anyone else that thinks along these lines.
If you think we are greedy you have no idea what you're talking about. In one sense we have no need to placate you, but in another these are some things that need to be considered.
We are debt free. We owe only our weekly grocery bills, utilities, and employee wages. Our home, vehicles, and business are paid off. We are not lazy and we aren't irresponsible. We would love to have the downtime. We work 80+ hours per week. We would be happy to go home, play with our dogs, and get some much needed yardwork and housekeeping done.
What about our employees? Some of them are just starting out in life and stressing about what they are going to do. We don't know how long this is going to last and don't know really what to tell them. They are looking to us for answers. They won't go hungry, but what about everything else? We are open FOR THEM. We will pay them a wage until we are forced to close. We don't just have an employer/employee relationship here. We are a team. We are a family.
We have patrons that we know on a first name basis. Over the years we have had many whose spouse have passed leaving them widowers. Many don't cook and go out to eat for at least one meal per day. We are also here FOR THEM.
We don't serve many dine-ins right now. We have removed several dining tables and chairs to help spread our patrons out. We have a "crash cart" full of disinfectants and supplies and ensuring that we disinfect every table, every chair, after every guest.
We are taking as many carry out orders as possible.

We are all going to feel these effects. None of us will come out of this unscathed. We will all suffer to some degree. But, we won't be out of the game. Many years of hard work and determination and doing what we can to be debt free has prepared us as much as possible for this season in our lives. We are all in this together. We'll do what we can to help each other in these times.
And lastly, when everyone starts receiving their stimulus checks in the coming weeks or months remember something. The government isn't providing this for you. They don't just go print more money or checks and that's that. It is the small businesses across all of America that pay their taxes monthly, quarterly, and yearly that funds this. Small businesses do not get the tax breaks that corporations receive. If all small business in the U.S. cease to be, we would collapse. That's a fact, Jack!

While we are taking the Covid-19 and influenza season seriously, we aren't panicking. For the time being our hours will remain the same with a few provisional changes.
1)We will be taking out a few of our dining tables and chairs so that we can spread our patrons out. We respect the personal space and hope this puts more people at ease. If you arrive and a table is not yet cleared and sanitized, please do not sit at it. You may be seated at the bar stools until the table you want is available or be seated at another one. (To let you in on a little secret most wait staff in the entire world would hope this be a permanent consideration🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️)
#2) Since the Covid-19 virus is an upper respiratory illness we will be removing all ashtrays for the time being. We ask that you be considerate to other patrons, especially the ones that are immuno-compromised and the ones most at risk. Both our front and back entrances have awnings over them if you don't feel you can pass up that cigarette. We do understand. We were smokers for several years until we kicked the habit. It's tough folks, we know.
#3) Any employees that fill the salad bar will be required to wear gloves. Please, take caution as well. We ask that you fill your children's plates for them. It isn't that we feel they are any less sanitary than an adult, but they don't carry the wisdom from experience as we do as adults. They also won't be as tall and the sneeze guards won't be effective in their case.
Please, let's all just do what we can. We aren't throwing caution to the wind, but we also aren't going to be paralyzed by fear. "We aren't all called to do great things, but we can all do small things with great love." - Mother Teresa
