Known for our crispy pizza crust, fresh (& plentiful) toppings, and having the best French Fries in the area (handcut and fried to crispy perfection!). For 50 years, our customers have been choosing George's not just for our popular pizzas, but also for our wide variety of subs, sandwiches, fresh salads, hand-cut fries, and cold beer! Did you know we use fresh produce, cook and then crumble our sa
usage by hand, make fresh dough daily (not everyone does!), and still use George's original from-scratch meatballs on our pizza and Meatball Subs? George’s Pizza has been a Fredericksburg favorite since 1974, when George and Georgina first opened the doors with a simple dream: serve great food in a place that felt like home. Locals quickly fell in love with the thick, buttery, Greek-style crust and George and Georgina’s warm, familiar welcome. For 25 years, the couple built not just a restaurant, but a gathering place where families, friends, and neighbors shared countless meals and memories. GEORGE & GEORGINA RETIRE. Twenty-five years later, George and Georgina retired and passed the torch to their trusted lead waitress, Patty, and her sister, Marie. Patty had spent years carrying trays and greeting regulars and now she and her family would carry on for the next 25 years. Under h care, the shop continued to thrive—still the same cozy corner spot where everyone knew your name and your favorite order. A NEW BUT FAMILIAR CHAPTER. Fast-forward to 2025, when Les and Cindy Bullock—both lifelong George’s Pizza customers and fans—proudly took over. Their connection to George’s started early: Les grew up just down the road, and both he and Cindy often walked there after school with friends. In high school, it became a favorite place to gather and a place where memories were made. At just 14, Les worked as a dishwasher at George’s—his first step into the food industry and the very beginning of a lifelong connection to the restaurant. He went on to gain years of success in the pizza and food industry, and when his all-time favorite pizza place came up for sale, it felt like fate. Returning now as an owner feels like stepping back into a cherished part of his childhood. HONORING TRADITION. ADDING THOUGHTFUL TOUCHES. Their promise is simple: keep everything people love (no, the pizza recipe will not change!) while adding thoughtful updates and conveniences. The same made-from-scratch recipes. The same nostalgic, homey feel. The same warm welcome when you walk through the door—complete with the familiar faces the community has known for years. However, guests can now enjoy updates such as catering with new menu items, online ordering, and remodeled, playfully decorated bathrooms. Les is also working a little magic in the kitchen and will soon introduce a few new offerings to complement the already delicious menu. A SLICE OF TRADITION THEN & NOW. In every way that matters, George’s Pizza remains the place it has always been—a slice of tradition, lovingly carried forward by the people who grew up with it and believe deeply in its future. For Les and Cindy, taking over George’s wasn’t just a business decision; it was an opportunity to preserve a beloved piece of Fredericksburg history.
