I enjoy checking on the bees at Kakadoodle. The animals are friendly with the goats and the dogs resting together, and the chickens getting dangerously curious about a field mower! Honey sauce. I feel dirty just posting this. Ingredients are listed in order of percentage, first ingredient is most prominent. I guess I have become a honey connoisseur. In the spring, keepers need to feed their bees until the flowers start to bloom. There is a plastic 2 gallon feeder in the brood box that is filled with a syrup that keeps them going. These little over-achieving ladies have filled it with something much better than syrup! And my beekeeping friends will quickly point out that this box went too long before we put the honey super on, I get it!

There are bees in the trees! In the early summer of 2025, this colony of bees moved into a tree hollow. They seem to be thriving this year, faring way better than most of their neighbors in the Langstroth hives. I am curious to see what it looks like in there, but we will never know.
