🎸🖤 WHEN YOUR CUSTOMER SAYS, “I WANT THIS…” AND YOU HAVE TO FIGURE OUT HOW! 🖤🎸

Eva sent me a picture and said her son wanted an album-cover cake based on Linkin Park's Meteora.

Now, Eva is one of those customers who gives me an idea and then lets me run with it. ❤️ And I LOVE that!

But this one had me scratching my head for a minute. 😂

I knew I wanted to recreate the image on the album cover, but there was one little problem…

THERE'S A WHOLE PERSON IN THE PICTURE. 😳🤣

So naturally, I went to my trusty AI assistant for some ideas. 😉

And it said, “Oh, that's no problem for your skill set. You can do a buttercream transfer.”

My response was basically:

“Are you freaking crazy?! I can't do that! THAT'S A PERSON! That's way too hard!” 🤣

But then it explained how to break the image down into layers and shapes…

And suddenly I could SEE it.

And once I could see it, I knew I could do it.

So here we are! 😆🎂

This is my buttercream recreation of the Linkin Park Meteora album cover, complete with a customized “Happy Birthday, Cazy!” 🎸🖤

And underneath all that buttercream artwork is cookies & cream cake with vanilla buttercream icing. 🍪🎂

I love cakes like this because they remind me why I do what I do. Someone gives me a picture, an idea, or a little piece of their story… and I get to figure out how to turn it into cake.

Give me your story, and I'll create something that's uniquely yours. ❤️

Happy Birthday, Cazy! 🥳🖤

🌈🕷️ WHEN THE CAKE DESIGN COMES STRAIGHT FROM THE BIRTHDAY GIRL… 🕷️🌈

This one is extra special because the design you see on this cake isn't something I found online…

Shiloh drew it herself! 🥰

My bestie Shelena ordered this cake for her son's girlfriend, and when she gave me Shiloh's drawing, I knew we needed to keep it exactly hers. ❤️

So I turned her original artwork into a buttercream transfer, tracing the design with buttercream and then transferring it onto the cake.

And underneath all that artwork? 😋

🍫 German chocolate cake
🥥 Classic coconut & pecan filling
🍰 Buttercream on the outside

I absolutely LOVE when a cake has a story behind it. And this one literally started with a drawing from the person it was made for.

Give me your story, and I'll create something that's uniquely yours. ❤️

Happy Birthday, Shiloh! 🌈🕷️🎂

And Shelena… thank you for letting me turn her artwork into something she could eat! 😂❤️

💀🖤 WHEN AI MAKES THE CAKE DESIGN… AND I GET THE CHALLENGE! 🖤💀

When my customer sent me this AI-generated cake design that her sister had created and asked, “Can you do this?”

Well… y'all know me. 😂

Challenge accepted. 😎🎂

🥰 She told me that it looked so much better than the picture she sent me! 🥹❤️

For this one, I had to bring a few different elements together to make the AI inspiration into an actual edible cake:

💀 The two skulls on top are plastic decorations that I made into cake toppers.

💀 The little skulls around the sides are edible images.

💡 The neon-style signs are printouts I made to recreate that glowing look.

🌹 The roses are piped in buttercream With a little glitter to make them shimmer.

❤️ The red drip is made from candy melts.

🎂 And underneath it all is red velvet cake with cream cheese icing inside and buttercream on the outside.

I love when someone brings me an inspiration picture and says, “Can you make this?”

Because sometimes the answer is easy…

…and sometimes it's “Hmmmm… let me figure out HOW to make that happen.” 😂

But that's part of the fun. ❤️

Happy 40th Birthday, Natalie! 🖤💀🎂

I hope your birthday was every bit as fabulous, fun, and just a little bit wicked as your cake!

Give me your story, and I'll create something that's uniquely yours. ❤️

Hey y'all! 👋 😁

We created new business card designs to tie all 3 branches of my business together. And yes, they are AI generated (it's a helpful tool, IDC), they come from my imagination, my design.

1st one is for the original cake part.
2nd and 3rd are for the wedding series. I can't decide. I love them both.
4th and 5th are for the munchies.

Vote between 2nd and 3rd pictures and let me know what you think! 🥰

🏁🔥 HOT WHEELS + CHUCK E. CHEESE = ONE VERY HAPPY 5-YEAR-OLD! 🏎️🎉

Michael is celebrating his 5th birthday, and he knew exactly what he wanted…

A Hot Wheels cake. 🏎️💨

And he wanted to celebrate at Chuck E. Cheese! 🎉

So when his grandparents called and said, “That's exactly what he's going to get!”… I was ready to build it! ❤️

This one was half chocolate and half strawberry cake, covered completely in buttercream.

And this cake has a few of my favorite little details:

🏎️ The Hot Wheels designs are handmade buttercream transfers! I tape the original image underneath parchment paper, then literally trace the design with buttercream, layer by layer. Once it's frozen, I transfer it directly onto the cake.

🛞 The tires are made from cake pop-style cake, shaped and attached to the car. I left them uncoated so they would have that matte, almost “real rubber” look instead of being shiny.

🎨 And of course, everything is buttercream. No fondant. Ever. 😉

There's just something special about taking a child's idea and turning it into something they can actually see sitting in front of them on their birthday. 🥰

Happy 5th Birthday, Michael! 🏁🎂

I hope your Hot Wheels birthday was every bit as awesome as you imagined! ❤️

I don't just make cakes. I build stories. ❤️

🍓🍋 A LITTLE STRAWBERRY LEMONADE… WITH A SIDE OF CORDYCEPS. 🧟‍♀️🌿

This one was definitely a fun one! 😂

When I was asked to create a cake from The Last of Us, the tv show, I knew I wanted to take it a little further than just putting the character on top of a cake.

The cake itself is a strawberry lemonade cake, with the bottom transformed into a woodland stump complete with textured bark, moss, and tiny baby's breath flowers. The top is a deep forest green, with a hand-painted Cordyceps-infected creature emerging from the middle.

And that face fungus? 👀

That was made from sucker material, but instead of pouring it into molds, I poured it over crumpled parchment paper, then carefully shaped and attached it to the cake to create all those crazy, organic-looking fungal growths.

And then came my favorite part… 😂

After I delivered the cake, Callei told her mom that she wanted to just take a bite out of it.

Her mom, Eva, told her, It's your cake. You can do what you want. 😂

And THAT is exactly what happened! 🤣🤣🤣

Honestly, I couldn't have asked for a better ending to this cake. 😂❤️

Thank you, Eva, for sharing these pictures with me and choosing me to create these cakes for your sweet family! I absolutely LOVE getting to see my cakes become part of the celebration — and apparently, sometimes they become snacks before the party even starts. 🤣

This is exactly why I love what I do.

Give me your story, and I'll create something that's uniquely yours. ❤️🎂

Redneck Munchies Test Kitchen: Turkish Delight

Y'all… I have a confession to make.

I may have underestimated Turkish Delight. 😂

I've been experimenting with old-fashioned candies from different times and places, and yesterday I decided it was time to tackle Turkish Delight.
Simple ingredients. Beautiful finished candy. Sounds easy enough, right?

WRONG. 🤣

That stuff started out innocent enough, but somewhere along the way it transformed into what can only be described as a vat of Vaseline.

And apparently, Turkish Delight doesn't care about your feelings.

You stir.

You stir some more.

You stir until you start questioning every decision that brought you into that kitchen.

And then you stir some more. 😂

By the time I was finally finished, my arms were JELLO. They were shaking, I was exhausted, and I wasn't entirely sure I still possessed functional upper extremities. 🤣

Then came the final boss battle: getting that ridiculously thick mixture out of the pan and into the dish to set.

I literally had to call in reinforcements. Kevin had to pick up and hold the pan while I scraped the stuff out. 😂

Making Turkish Delight is NOT for the faint of heart. It takes some serious commitment.

But then…

I cut it.

I coated it in powdered sugar.

And suddenly this beautiful little candy appeared, and I thought…

Okay. Maybe you were worth it. 😂❤️

The finished candy is soft, chewy, delicate and wonderfully old-fashioned.

And now that I've survived making it, I'm pretty sure I have earned the right to eat it. 🤣

Redneck Munchies Test Kitchen verdict: Would I make it again?

Ask me after the feeling in my arms returns. 😂😂😂

🇹🇷 A Little History Behind Turkish Delight

A little history lesson…

Turkish Delight, or lokum, has been enjoyed in the Middle East for centuries. Early versions were made with ingredients like honey or molasses and flour, but the soft, translucent, chewy candy we recognize today really took shape during the Ottoman era.

One of the most important names in the story is Bekir Efendi, a confectioner who opened a shop in Istanbul in 1777. His family became famous for lokum, and their candies eventually became favorites of the Ottoman Palace. When refined sugar and starch became more widely available in the early 1800s, those ingredients helped transform lokum into the delicate, chewy confection we know today.

And here's where the name “Turkish Delight” comes in:
the candy was known as lokum in Turkey, but an English traveler and customer of Hacı Bekir reportedly brought it home and introduced it as “Turkish Delight.” The name stuck—and eventually became the name known around the world.

So after wrestling with a pan of this stuff for what felt like approximately 47 years, I now understand why this little candy has survived for centuries. 😂

The name lokum comes from an Arabic expression, rahat al-hulkum, meaning roughly “comfort of the throat.”
Which I find absolutely hilarious because, after spending hours stirring what I can only describe as a vat of edible Vaseline until my arms stopped functioning, I can assure you there was nothing comfortable about the making of it. 🤣🤣🤣

But eating it? Now THAT'S where the “comfort” part finally makes sense. ❤️

It may be a delight to eat… but making it is a whole different story. 🤣❤️

If you enjoyed my little story, please give me a reaction and let me know What old-fashioned candy should I torture myself with next? 👀🍬🤪🥰

Y'all! Omgosh! This Honeycomb toffee is so freaking cool!!!

The recipe said to use an 8x8 pan... um excuse me... uh nope. 🤣

But it performed exactly as it should have... and the taste 😋🤤😍 is absolutely fabulous! It's so perfectly light, airy, crunchy but not hard, and tastes like sweet caramel melting in your mouth. 10 out of 10 for me! I can't wait for y'all to try it!

🍬 What Should I Make Next? 👀

Hey y'all! ❤️

The Redneck Munchies Test Kitchen has been busy lately!

I'm having way too much fun with this. 😂

I've made candied pecans and candied pretzels, which I've made before, but this time I wanted to see exactly how much each batch makes so I can get our packaging and pricing figured out.

I also made peanut butter fudge—a recipe and technique my mom taught me when I was just a kid. I haven't made it in years, and making it again brought back some pretty sweet memories. ❤️

Now I'm ready to try something completely new. And I can't decide which one to tackle first! 🤔

So... I need your help deciding!

🍋 Turkish Delight?

An old confection with roots in the Ottoman Empire, traditionally made with sugar and starch and known for its soft, chewy, almost jelly-like texture. I'm thinking lemon and vanilla for our version.

🍯 Honeycomb Toffee?

No honey required! 😂 This candy gets its famous honeycomb texture from baking soda creating tiny bubbles throughout the hot sugar mixture. The result is light, crunchy, and almost melts in your mouth.

🤎 Caramel Divinity?

A Southern old-fashioned favorite with a fascinating history—and this particular recipe comes from a 1940s cookbook passed down to me through generations of my family! Divinity is famous for its incredibly light, fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth texture. I'm thinking caramel... thoughts?

🤎 Pralines?

A candy with French roots that became a Southern classic, especially after pecans replaced the almonds used in the original French confection. Buttery, creamy, nutty, and VERY hard to resist.

🥜 Peanut Brittle?

One of those old-fashioned candies that turns simple ingredients into something completely different through a little candy-making chemistry. Crunchy, caramelized, salty-sweet goodness.

🌊 Sea Foam?

An old-fashioned candy that's related to the same family of whipped sugar confections as divinity. Light, airy, and melt-in-your-mouth—though recipes and textures can vary quite a bit.

So... WHAT SHOULD I MAKE?! 👀

🍋 Turkish Delight
🍯 Honeycomb Toffee
🤎 Caramel Divinity
🥜 Pralines
🥜 Peanut Brittle
🌊 Sea Foam
