Hi friends!
I wanted to share a little more about our fundraiser this month.
For the entire month of August, 50% of every order from Rosemary Bread Company will go toward purchasing school supplies for students at Hatley Elementary whose families are unable to send them to school with everything they need. The other 50% simply covers the ingredients and packaging that go into each order.
Like many of you, I know our neighborhood has been told we’ll eventually have our own elementary school. But until that day comes, Hatley is our school. These are our kids, our teachers, and our community.
Hatley Elementary opened in 2022, making it one of the newest schools in Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD. Because it’s still so new, it currently has a 4/10 GreatSchools rating. While ratings never tell the whole story, we all know how much families pay attention to them when deciding where to buy a home. Strong schools help build strong communities, and strong communities also help protect our property values. More importantly, they help shape the future of the children growing up here.
I recently spoke with someone at Hatley who shared something that really stuck with me. They told me that some students arrive on the first day of school without even a backpack.
No child should have to start the school year worrying about whether they have a pencil, notebook, or backpack when they should be excited about meeting their teacher and making new friends.
Hatley has approximately 36 homerooms, 2 special education classrooms, and several additional small-group learning spaces. It’s also a Title I school, meaning at least 40% of its students come from low-income families. I asked what would make the biggest impact, and they told me that purchasing school supplies in bulk would allow every donated dollar to stretch as far as possible.
So that’s exactly what we’re going to do.
🎯 Our goal is to raise $500 during the month of August.
As of today, we’ve already raised $67! Every loaf of bread, every dozen cookies, every muffin, every custom order moves us closer to making sure more children walk into school with the supplies they need.
For this month only, I’m also happy to take custom baking orders if there’s something not currently on the menu. If it helps us reach this goal, I’m all for it.
If you’d like to follow along with our progress, give us a follow!
Thank you for supporting my little bakery, but even more than that, thank you for helping invest in the children who will grow up to shape our community. I truly believe that when we lift up our schools, we lift up everyone. 💜 Elizabeth Lopez Hatley Elementary School
