The ovens are off.
The sandwich station is quiet.
The last cookie has been safely removed from our supervision.

And we’re officially closed until Wednesday.

Which means there’s really only one thing left to do:

We have a theory.

At some point, you stop being “a customer” at a small business.

We start recognizing your car.

We know which sandwich you’re probably about to order.

We notice when you try something different. 👀

We know which cookie you’re hoping is in the case.

We know your kids.

We know when we haven’t seen you in a little while.

And sometimes we see your order pop up before you walk through the door and think,

“Oh! They’re coming today!” 🤎

That’s one of the really incredible things about being a small business.

You aren’t order #147.

You’re the cranberry sandwich with no sprouts.
The extra ranch.
The two cookies because one “is for later.”
The family that comes in after Saturday morning games.
The person who always grabs bread on the way out.

You’re our people.

And lately, gratitude has been sitting pretty heavily on our hearts.

Because every single time you walk through our doors, place an online order, bring your family in, tell a friend about us, or decide that today you’re having The Sour Boule for lunch—you’ve given us another opportunity to serve you.

Honestly?

Pretty much our entire menu. 😂

This is the problem with working at a sandwich shop.

Do you want the cranberry one with cream cheese?

The spicy one with pickles and crispy fried onions?

The one with bacon and ranch?

The one with that pickle-marinated slaw?

And THEN you’re supposed to choose between the sides.

And THEN there’s a case full of cookies.

We really didn’t think this through. 😂

So if you’re currently trying to decide what you want for lunch, we’re sorry to report that coming to The Sour Boule may not actually make the decision any easier.

Sometimes we forget that not everyone knows what we mean when we say scratch made.

So, hi. Welcome behind the curtain for a minute. 👋

The sourdough? Our team makes it.

The meats piled onto your sandwiches? We roast them.

The mayo? We make it.

The ranch? Yep. That too.

The pickles? Ours.

Those crispy fried onions you keep finding tucked into sandwiches? We make those too.

The cookies, bars, bagels, breads and all the other things that somehow keep multiplying around here?

You guessed it. 😂

There are certainly things we don’t make ourselves—and we’ll always be honest about those (looking at you pasta in the Dill Pickle Pasta!).

But behind the majority of what you eat at The Sour Boule is a team measuring, mixing, roasting, baking, chopping, stirring and prepping it.

Not because it’s the easiest way to run a sandwich shop.

Because somewhere along the way, we decided if we were going to put our name on it, we wanted to be really proud of what was in it. 🤎
