People always say to surround yourself with strong-willed women, and I can honestly say I'm blessed to be surrounded by so many.
After a successful morning at the Farmers Market, we headed to our second event of the day—the Saginaw 4th of July celebration. We got everything set up and were ready to serve... until our generator suddenly tripped and shut off about an hour before the event started.
My dad held down the fort while I worked on getting the generator running again, with the help of a good Samaritan who refused to give up in the Texas heat. Meanwhile, prep still had to get done, so I called my sister. She already had plans, but she made the time to come help anyway. Not only did she jump right in, but she stayed until we closed—something she absolutely didn't have to do, and I'm incredibly grateful for.
Then my wife, Rosa, arrived. If you know her, you know she isn't afraid to get her hands dirty. She immediately started troubleshooting with me, asking if I'd tried this or that. Finally, she asked if I'd tried the same trick that had worked on our food truck before. I hadn't. We gave it a shot... and just like that, the generator fired up. We were finally able to open.
Karla, thank you for dropping everything and stepping in like the general of the family that you are. We couldn't have done it without you.
Rosa, thank you for being an absolute badass. Your determination, knowledge, and willingness to jump into any situation are a huge part of why Salsazon keeps moving forward. I honestly don't know if we would've opened today without you.
And to the good Samaritan who stood beside me in the heat trying everything we could to get that generator running—thank you. Your kindness didn't go unnoticed.
Days like today remind me that no one builds a business alone. We are beyond lucky to have such incredible people in our corner. ❤️🇺🇸🌮
