🏈 BIG GAMES. GREAT COMMUNITY! 🌽

Our Aunt Gena’s Gourmet Sweetcorn community represents a whole lot of college football loyalties, and we’ve got some big games this weekend!

Tonight, a shout-out to our Purdue fans as the Boilermakers take on the Washington Huskies!

Tomorrow brings Indiana against Ohio State in one of the biggest matchups of the weekend, Notre Dame traveling to face BYU, and my Penn State Nittany Lions taking on Michigan—which also has plenty of fans in our sweetcorn community!

Now, you all know where my heart is. It’s been another tough year for Penn State, with a new coach and a roster that’s gone through plenty of changes. I’ll be honest: I’m not confident we’ll pull this one out against Michigan—but I’ll be cheering for my Lions every step of the way!

Whatever colors you wear, I wish your teams good luck. I appreciate every one of you and the community we share. A little friendly rivalry just makes it more fun!

But I still have to finish with…

🌽 Sweetcorn update from Uncle Steve!

I know I’ve been a little quiet lately—we’ve been busy with pumpkins and other crops!

I just checked our next patch of sweetcorn. I was hoping this week’s warm weather would push it along enough for the weekend, but it needs more time.

We’re looking at sometime next week, provided it makes it through any frost we get. 🤞

A beautiful fall morning to everyone! 🍂🌽

I forgot to let you know that we put some Sweetcorn out this morning!

Can you believe it’s October 10 and we’re still enjoying fresh, local Sweetcorn? Growing conditions this time of year aren’t ideal, so the ears are smaller—but I’ve tasted it right in the field, and it is wonderfully sweet and delicious!

It looks like we’ll have some again tomorrow. After that, I’m not certain, but I’ll keep you posted.

We do have more coming along! As long as we avoid a hard frost or freeze, we expect to have more. At this time of year, though, it’s hard to predict how quickly it will mature or exactly when it will be ready.

🌽 October Sweetcorn Update! 🌽

I just came out of the field checking our next planting, and here’s what it looks like! And if you look at the second picture… Uncle Steve has already done the taste testing! 😂

This patch will be ready for Saturday and Sunday! If it’s ready earlier, we’ll let you know.

We could pick it now, but it’s not quite at the sweetness I want for you. Another day or two will give it time to reach its prime—and it’ll be worth the wait!

Good morning, everyone! 🍂 It looks like another beautiful fall day!

A major piece of equipment we use to deliver pumpkins has been down for a couple of days, slowing our deliveries. Hopefully, we’ll be back out soon, bringing more pumpkins to our locations. Thank you for your patience!

Here’s some sweet news: we were able to get more Sweetcorn out of the field, and we have a small amount at every location this morning! 🌽

October Sweetcorn is a treat—stop by early if you’d like some, because supplies are limited!

Can you imagine your front porch, steps, or home decorated with some of these autumn treasures?

From stackers and warties to ornamentals and classic orange pumpkins—we’ve grown a wonderful mix of colors, shapes, sizes, and textures! Big and bold, little and lovely, smooth, ribbed, bumpy, and full of character. 🍂

Uncle Steve spends hours upon hours—and days throughout the winter—searching for the most unique and beautiful varieties to plant. Seeing them come out of the fields and imagining them at your homes makes it all worthwhile!

We planted just about everything we could get our hands on, and now we’re bringing that beautiful variety straight from our fields to you!

This year’s pumpkin crop has been prolific, and we have plenty for everyone. Come pick your favorites, build a pumpkin stack, or put together a whole porchful of fall! 🧡 Straw bales are also available to complete your display!

📍 Pumpkins are available ONLY at our Tonkel Road, State Route 37, Leo, and Hicksville locations.

📍 Ornamental corn and corn shocks are available ONLY at Tonkel Road right now.

🌽 And can you believe it? It’s the first week of October, and we STILL have local, scrumptious, non-GMO Sweet Corn at EVERY location!

🌽 OK, everybody—we have October Sweetcorn!

Sweetcorn is available at EVERY location today! Supplies are limited, so get there early before it’s gone!

Just a reminder: With all the rain over the past three weeks, we couldn’t get into the field every time we needed to spray for earworm, so you may find a few earworms in this patch. Generally, any earworm damage is limited to the first inch and a half of the tip. Just trim off the affected tip!

Because it’s October, the ears may be smaller and the tips might not be completely filled out—but this corn is absolutely scrumptious and delicious to eat!

Please don’t peel back the husks to inspect the ears. That dries out the corn and spoils it for the next customer. Help us keep it fresh for everybody! 💛

🌽 A little October sweetcorn update from Uncle Steve!

We picked some sweetcorn last night, but the rain made us stop. Auburn has a small amount available this morning, but our other locations do not have sweetcorn right now.

The eating quality of this patch is phenomenal! But October corn comes with a few challenges, and as always, we want to be upfront with you.

Ear sizes will vary, and getting every ear perfectly filled all the way to the tip is a tall order this late in the season.

As I mentioned earlier this week, the rain kept us from getting into the field every time we needed to spray for earworms. There aren’t many, but you may find one in some ears, along with a little tip damage.

Supply from this patch is very limited. We plan to have sweetcorn Saturday and Sunday, possibly Monday, but we won’t have it every day through next week. We’re hoping the next patch will be ready for the following weekend, and we’ll keep you posted!

🎃 Ready to decorate for fall? Pumpkins and autumn décor are available now at State Route 37 and Tonkel Road! Later today, you’ll also be able to shop at our Leo and Hicksville locations.
