It is with a heavy, yet proud heart, that we announce the following plan for the termination of operations for Summit City Brewerks. We want to thank each and every person that has been a part of our success as a company. To be certain, we have genuinely cared, and will continue to care for, all of our great team members and guests. You all have been such a massive part of what has made SCB so great, so talked about, and loved by so many. The last service for Summit City Brewerks will be August 15, 2024.
With a very small loan, a whole lot of sweat, tears, beers, and fears, we poured our heart and soul into making Summit City Brewerks something special. With our own hands, we built a unique, and above all, welcoming spot to visit. It has been a place to meet friends, drown sorrows, and to celebrate victories. We had no idea what the world had in store for us. Our beer was unique, made with passion, and always made with the goal of improvement. We were lucky enough to make a great hire with our brewer Justin Alderman. He from day one helped us get things straightened out. He’s been with us ever since. We improved processes, and consistently pushed for better beer, more flavor, and more creativity.
It's bittersweet to make this announcement just shy of our 10 year anniversary. So many highs, lows, and in-betweens, it is hard to even pick a place to begin. We began this journey because we loved exploring all the flavors that craft beer has to offer. Our eyes were truly opened to the world of beer when we began fermenting our own, in my kitchen, downtown Fort Wayne. We brewed so many styles, and learned so many things, that after just two years of brewing, we felt confident that we could make a go at starting our own brewery. Plenty thought we were crazy, some thought we would never get open, and so many were excited to have a new brewery in town. At the end of an era, we have much to be proud of. We met our goal of opening, what at the time, was the first brewery in Fort Wayne in over a decade. We learned so much, and could wax poetic for many paragraphs, yet it is perhaps best to keep it short and sweet.
Thank you to our current team, past team members, and our loyal customers. We wish you the best and hope you can understand that this choice weighs heavy on us.
