We took out last order at 6:00 pm on Friday, March 25th.
Thank you Fort Wayne for such a great run. And even more thanks for the staff! They all stayed and worked as hard as ever the last week. We were glad we were able to say good-byes to everyone. We hope the flavor will return to Fort Wayne at some point. If you know of any resturants we should talk to about licensing, let us know here!
THANKS

Fort Wayne, Indiana
Andriano & Affiliates, Ltd., FRANDS Restaurants, LLC, DBA Gropp’s Famous Fish of Stroh

For 11 years we have run Gropp’s Famous Fish of Stroh in Fort Wayne. It began in November of 2004 when we purchased the recipes and names from Millie Gropp. We began with selling our famous fish from a trailer in the Pine Valley parking lot while our first restaurant was being outfitted and decorated. We opened our Pine Valley location in March 2005. The following year we opened our Georgetown location in March.

As we retire from the restaurant business, it is with sadness that we announce today that we will be closing our location in Georgetown end of business on March 25, 2016. This will be the first time since 1955 that there will not be a Gropp’s Famous Fish of Stroh restaurant in operation.

We want to thank our customers for their patronage and support over the past 11 years. We will miss them. Many have become like family.

We also want to thank our employees, current and past, for their efforts. Without them, there would be no fish served.

Andriano & Affiliates, Ltd will retain ownership of all Gropp’s original spice mix, recipes and the name. We would like to bring these famous recipes back by licensing other restaurant locations, allowing current restaurants the ability to sell Gropp’s Famous Fish by purchasing the original spice mix from Andriano & Affiliates, Ltd. If anyone has any interest please contact Stacia Andriano at 260-710-5883.

There will be an auction on Tuesday, March 29th at 10:00 am for those interested in any of the lake items, or restaurant equipment. It all goes! Come pick up your favorite piece of memorabilia. It will be handled through Steffen Group, check it out at www.Steffengrp.com

Thank you Fort Wayne. It has been a bitter sweet decision.

This is a letter to the editor run in the Journal Gazette on Thursday, February 18, 2016. We are pleased with this retraction.

Restaurants, recipes are separate

On Feb. 1, 2015, The Journal Gazette wrote a review of the Big Eyed Fish restaurants. In the article, reference is made that I, as owner of Big Eyed Fish, stated their recipe is the one used at the original Fish of Stroh in Stroh, Indiana. I have since learned that my statement regarding the recipe is untrue.

The Fish of Stroh recipe is neither owned nor used by the Big Eyed Fish restaurants, and the statement is now retracted. The owners of Famous Fish of Stroh own the original recipe, and the Famous Fish of Stroh is a distinct restaurant, with different owners and recipes.

I apologize to the public for causing any confusion as to which recipes are served by Big Eyed Fish, and for insinuating his restaurants use the same recipes as Gropps Famous Fish of Stroh. Further, I apologize to the owners, employees and customers of Gropps Famous Fish of Stroh for any problems my statement may have caused them, and I apologize to the public for any confusion I may have caused.

This weekend it was shown again that fish places want to be Fish of Stroh when they grow up. We have the only location selling the original breading. Georgetown is the only place to get the original recipes! Please don't be fooled by the want to be places.

Fish of Stroh will be open July 4th for LUNCH and DINNER ... 11 am to 8 pm. We have been closed on the 4th in years past so we are not sure what to expect. We have the full menu for carry out so you can get a 'picnic' meal for whatever number of people in your group! Enjoy the holiday!!!

Last weekend we stopped in at the original location where Millie Gropp started it all. Nothing tasted like the original flavors. The slaw was wilted, the tartar was also off taste and the fish breading had no flavor. The fish itself wasn't so bad, but certainly not the original flavor. It is interesting that they say they don't need our name, but the while discussing the Original recipes the server said they had the same recipes for the tartar, slaw and fish. She was so lying!!!! They don't know what the original recipes taste like. What a silly game they are playing. I am proud of our staff and an happy to have them!!!!
