One pound of Monsooned Malabar just roasted.

For coffee nerds, Monsooned Malabar refers to a process applied to the coffee beans, wherein the beans are exposed to the monsoon rains for 3-4 months, which causes the beans to swell and lose some of the original acidity. These beans are typically from the Malabar coast.

The roasted beans typically present with a chocolatey aroma with hints of nuts and spice. The flavor profile changes dependant on the length and preference of the roast time.

I still have some Colombian Peabody beans Nicaraguan Cafe Diego.

Send me a message if you'd like me to roast you some!

Thinking about roasting some coffee beans within the next day or so in my fancy Behmor roaster and selling them for cheap.

I've got extra time on my hands this summer, and life is always better with a little extra spending money...and with coffee on speed dial. Win, win.

I've got some Monsooned Malabar, Nicaraguan and Columbian Peabody.

I can roast it to your liking, light as a mother's touch or call the Fire Department, the roof is on fire.

It can be ground to your preference and delivered within reason at no additional cost.

Send me a message if you're interested, and may the coffee gods smile gently upon you.

I would love to share some of this good stuff with you. Comes either whole bean or ground to your specifications. Pick up or delivery available in Fort Wayne.

Prices vary by weight. Message me for more information.

Happy 4th,

Cuppin' The Beans

Just sat down to roast a pound of full french Brazil Daterra Espresso Reserve in my Behmor 1600 Plus. It's for a grandma of my son's baseball team. She is at every game cheering on her grandson. Apparently last year, when I was neck deep in the newness of selling something that my hands and heart have created, I mentioned this small batch roasting idea to her, and she remembered.
Last summer became fall becoming spring and life has whirred by as the roaster has sat unused and forlorn by my picture window.
Today as I sit and listen to it now once again rotating to life and smell of the aromas that emerge from the beans before the first crack, I am grateful. Grateful for coffee and the connection that it creates. This is why I started roasting, not for the money, but for the connection to the world around me and to share the black gold that the magical coffee bean creates.

I look forward to giving it to her at the next game this week.

*Please be sure to read next post about other beans that will be available this week.

☕☕As always, thank you for reading and may the coffee beans smile upon you from the bottom of your cup☕☕

Haven't posted on here much lately. Being a parent to three busy teenagers can be a tad time consuming 😂, but I haven't meandered far. Just roasted a lb of light Vienna French for tomorrow morning for my husband and me. It's Saturday and some french press is a good way to get started.

I still have several types of beans available that I would love to roast for YOUR morning (or midnight) coffee. Message me and let's see what we can get started.

Free delivery in the Fort.

Q: What did the two coffee enthusiasts say when they got married?

A: We’re meant to bean together! 😜

I really have no idea how to price my coffee. I came up with a formula in a previous post when I was attempting to math, but really numbers and currency are kind of an abstract conception.

Make me an offer. If I accept, I'll put my heart and soul into roasting you the best pound or half pound of coffee that I am able and deliver it for free❤️

May your day be filled with curiosity and hot coffee.

Sincerely,

Monica (occasional kite flyer and keeper of Cuppin'The Beans, uninc.)

Eventually I plan to add and update shop listings with all current beans available to purchase and have roasted to your preference, but until my FB/Meta knowledge expands, here is my current listing of coffees:

Sumatra Mandheling 15.50
Colombian - Women Owned Coffee- Steel Magnolias 15
Daterra - Bourbon Collection 15.70
Monsooned Malabar 15.00
Haitian Blue 16.30
Colombian Peaberry 15.00
Colombian Decaf EA Process 15.00
Nicaragua - Cafe Diego 14.50
Congo Umoja 15.80
Kenya AA 16.00

The prices reflect the per lb cost, and this reflects the cost of each bean, as well as labor and packaging costs. I sincerely appreciate everyone who has already purchased coffee or plans to do so in the future. As stated in a previous post, I will be participating in a small business training later this week; currently, any profit that is made is going back into the Cuppin' The Beans operating and material costs. This caffeinated brain is thinking about a long-term business plan, specifically, purchasing a larger scale roaster. As of right now, I can roast up to a lb at a time, and the process from start to finish is about one hour. I absolutely love coffee. I hope that you also love the coffee I'm roasting. I value any feedback and hold highly and dearly your business.

Free Delivery anywhere in Fort Wayne. If you have any questions, let me know.

Café de Olla

So, the deeper I get into coffee roasting and expanding my knowledge and experimentation, the more I want to push into the unknown. At the heart of it, coffee is universal and has been enjoyed by countless generations and cultures across our planet.
The most recent bean I roasted was Mexican, and it was roasted to a Light French.
A little research led me to discover Café de Olla, or, coffee from a pot. Intrigued, I packed up my ever curious teenaged daughter and off we went on a quest to Supermercado Mi Tierra, here in Fort Wayne, in search of Canela Entera (cinnamon sticks) and piloncillo (unrefined whole cane sugar).

With said items procured at less than $5, we headed home.

This afternoon was spent in the kitchen, following a general recipe for this age-old custom that our neighbors just south of the border have passed on for generations. The results were better than expected. With a sweet, cinnamon aroma and warm, sugary sweetness, Café de Olla was a perfect drink to enjoy on a cold and snowy Sunday.

How to make:

☕Bring water to a simmer
☕Add cinnamon stick(s) and piloncillo to flavor
☕Add ground coffee as water comes to boil
☕Cover, steep on low for 5 minutes
☕Pour through a sieve
☕Enjoy!!

Yo. I had an afternoon off work from my day job and so I decided to roast a pound of Mexican coffee. I roasted it Vienna/Light French and it smells amazing.

We're going to keep a half pound to try in the French Press later tonight as a traditional Mexican recipe, Café de Olla. Stay tuned for the recipe and what is likely to be an interesting and educational video of us expanding our cultural palates 😁.

In the meantime, I have a half pound of medium dark Mexican coffee for sale.

☕☕1/2 pound Mexican Vienna Roast: $10
(Will include cinnamon sticks and traditional piloncillo for flavoring, if you're so inclined) EDIT: SOLD

Free delivery in the Fort or pick up.

Also! I just received another shipment of green coffee beans and will be updating my menu selection shortly.
Be on the lookout ☕☕

So, anyone currently reading this is likely a friend or family member. You may have ordered coffee from me or read my posts out of curiosity. Maybe you've shared by word of mouth my coffee roasting hobby with others. Thank you.

Becoming an entrepreneur in the coffee world has been a far away dream of mine for 25 years, when I got my first job as a barista at Border's. A few years later I took a hiatus from my previous profession and worked at a little locally owned coffee shop at the ACPL. Fast forward a bit more and Kurt, my husband, brought home our tiny first coffee roaster, a Nestle, as a way for us to connect when we had 3 small babies and no time to breathe, let alone go on date.

When we first bought our Behmor 1600 plus roaster a few years ago, a flash of an idea flew across my mind of starting to roast for others, but it wasn't until spring of 2022 that I felt ready to begin taking steps to make this a reality. In the time between, many hours have been spent learning the subtleties of bean roasting and enjoying our own home roasted coffees... I still have a long way to go, and this is part of the fun.

I also realize that I have a lot to learn on the business side. Trial and error is one way, but Indiana also has many resources for start-ups and aspiring entrepreneurs. I don't need to rebuild the wheel.

I will soon be attending training through the Indiana Small Business Development Center (ISBDC) to help further crystallize next steps and formulate a solid business plan. I have ideas, and I want to make them happen. Stay tuned for more information.

And as always, thank you for supporting Cuppin'The Beans. Every penny that is made helps.

☕☕Also, stay tuned, as I will soon be posting upcoming coffee offerings☕☕
