So, anyone currently reading this is likely a friend or family member. You may have ordered coffee from me or read my posts out of curiosity. Maybe you've shared by word of mouth my coffee roasting hobby with others. Thank you.
Becoming an entrepreneur in the coffee world has been a far away dream of mine for 25 years, when I got my first job as a barista at Border's. A few years later I took a hiatus from my previous profession and worked at a little locally owned coffee shop at the ACPL. Fast forward a bit more and Kurt, my husband, brought home our tiny first coffee roaster, a Nestle, as a way for us to connect when we had 3 small babies and no time to breathe, let alone go on date.
When we first bought our Behmor 1600 plus roaster a few years ago, a flash of an idea flew across my mind of starting to roast for others, but it wasn't until spring of 2022 that I felt ready to begin taking steps to make this a reality. In the time between, many hours have been spent learning the subtleties of bean roasting and enjoying our own home roasted coffees... I still have a long way to go, and this is part of the fun.
I also realize that I have a lot to learn on the business side. Trial and error is one way, but Indiana also has many resources for start-ups and aspiring entrepreneurs. I don't need to rebuild the wheel.
I will soon be attending training through the Indiana Small Business Development Center (ISBDC) to help further crystallize next steps and formulate a solid business plan. I have ideas, and I want to make them happen. Stay tuned for more information.
And as always, thank you for supporting Cuppin'The Beans. Every penny that is made helps.
☕☕Also, stay tuned, as I will soon be posting upcoming coffee offerings☕☕
