‼️🚨We want to alert everyone of a new scam we just encountered. 🚨‼️
We had a man call saying he was a Federal Marshal and he had an arrest warrant for one of our staff members for using counterfeit money. He was able to call from the owners phone number. He sounded very legit. He then said he and other officers were out and asked us to bring all of our money outside. When he was told that sounded weird, he hung up.
We reached out to the York County Sheriff’s office. They said they have heard of something really similar happening in the area. And that there is an app scammers use to make the call look authentic. We want to make sure other business are aware and do not get scammed.
Report any similar experiences to the YCSO. Please share to alert others.
