One of Fort Lauderdale’s OG restaurants turns 14 next Saturday, and they’re doing the whole weekend for it.
Here’s what most people don’t know about The Chimney House. It’s a 1924 house in Sailboat Bend. What was supposed to be a two year remodel turned into six, and through all of it there was one thing they refused to tear down: the original chimney. So they built the restaurant around it. It’s still standing in the middle of the dining room. That’s the name.
Fourteen years later, in a county where restaurants close every month, that house is still full every weekend. That doesn’t happen by accident.
THE WEEKEND
◆ Friday, September 11: live Spanish guitar
◆ Saturday, September 12: the 14 year anniversary, live salsa, the whole room dancing
◆ All weekend, September 11 to 13: food and drink specials, Cointreau margarita activations and rum mojitos
