AsalaamuAlaikum Maza Kabob followers. We are very pleased to announce that with the support of our amazing community that Sayed loved so much, we have already built 5 wells and started 2 more last month. Sayed would have been very proud and ecstatic to see the happy faces on the children who are in dire need of clean water. The floods and earthquakes in Afghanistan the last few months were devastating to many villages and caused great delays in our plans with the water wells. See here for more details (https://www.business-standard.com/article/international/over-200-000-affected-by-natural-disasters-in-afghanistan-report-122092800044_1.html) The World Orphan Foundation has done an amazing job of balancing the water wells and providing aid to many after the floods and earthquakes struck. Unfortunately with the current situation of Afghanistan, transportation of aid and tools has become arduous. Below are a few pictures of the wells and the start of the most recent.

Asalaamualaikum (Peace be upon you)
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Sayed. He had a very aggressive form of esophageal and stomach cancer that he diligently fought but recently succumbed to. He was very grateful to have had the opportunity to share his food, culture and smile with an astounding and generous community for the past decade. His love for making people happy shined through his daily cooking and conversations with all of you. Throughout his battle with cancer, not a week went by without him mentioning how much he missed Maza Kabob and interacting with its invaluable patrons. We greatly appreciate your support through the many years at Maza Kabob and we hope that we can one day continue Sayed's legacy and reopen our restaurant.

His last wish was that all efforts pertaining to his funeral/memorial be used towards the greater good. He was always a champion and a voice for the less fortunate and impoverished. To continue his noble mission, we have opened a goFundMe in his honor to build water wells in his birth country of Afghanistan to support the poverty-stricken children and their families as they face severe drought and starvation, now deemed a serious humanitarian crisis. With the help of family and friends, he had 3 water wells built in Afghanistan and was waiting for the cold winter to pass to start the construction of another until he recently passed. With your support, we hope to continue Sayed's work and legacy and bring access to clean water to the children and families of Afghanistan.

We will be working with the World Orphan Foundation, whose work focuses on the needs of the Afghan people. Below are pictures of some of the work they have done. Each water well ranges from $3k-$6k depending on the location, size, and depth of drilling. Sayed had great confidence in our community and its capabilities, together we can continue his dream and build several water wells.
