Three generations. One beautiful moment. ❤️ Carol, Jane and I.

This month, we had the honor of celebrating Jane’s 100th birthday at VEx – The Vietnam Experience.

Born in 1926, Jane carries a century of stories, memories, strength, and love. Reaching 100 years old is something truly special, and we are grateful to have been part of this celebration.

Happy Birthday, Jane. 🎉

And to everyone celebrating a birthday this June — we wish you health, happiness, and many more beautiful moments around the table.

June at VEx is all about rum. 🥃🌴

This month, the VEx Global Spirit Society explores three distinct rum traditions from across the world — each bottle telling a different story of climate, terroir, aging, and craftsmanship.

From the volcanic sugarcane fields of Martinique with Rhum J.M VSOP to the bold Jamaican character of Transcontinental Rum Line to the rich elegance of Mount Gay’s Cognac Cask Expression from Barbados…

Rum is far more than a tropical cocktail spirit.
It is history, geography, culture, and centuries of tradition poured into a glass.

A special thank you to Farmington Liquor for helping us secure these incredible bottles. The Transcontinental Rum Line was a special store pick and a standout addition to this month’s lineup.

We’re closed Sunday & Monday, but there’s always work happening behind the scenes.

Monday means another maintenance day at VEx.

Today was grease trap service with NW Biofuel — not the glamorous side of restaurant life, but one of the most important.

This was our third service since taking over the space on 7/11/2025.

It’s fascinating how much happens behind the scenes to keep a restaurant running properly. It’s expensive, but necessary. We service our system every 6 months because handling small issues early prevents bigger problems later — including smells no restaurant wants guests to experience.

Guests see the bowls of pho, cocktails, and cozy atmosphere. Owners see the maintenance, cleaning, and constant care that keeps everything welcoming and comfortable.

Building something from the ground up means taking ownership of every detail, even the ones no one notices. The late-night cleaning, maintenance calls, unexpected expenses, and constant problem-solving are all part of creating a place where people can gather and feel at home. The unseen work may never make it onto the menu, but it’s the foundation that makes everything else possible.
