In 1919, our founder Roy Allen set up a roadside drink stand in Lodi, California to introduce a new beverage called "root b**r" at a parade honoring returning World War I veterans. Allen and Wright started franchising roadside stands, making A&W Restaurants the oldest franchise restaurant chain in the country. In 1931, A&W was born in Fond du lac at Merrill and Main St. It was soon traded during the depression for food to a Grocery store owner and moved to Fond du lac Ave. In 1953, It moved to its current location. The Fond du Lac A&W is one of A&W's original Drive-In restaurants. We are proud to stick to our roots and honor the past, while still growing with the changing times. We are committed to making it right, every time. Laughter, simple pleasures, and celebrations are all vital to A&W. Ask around, everyone has an A&W memory: first dates, baby mugs of Root B**r, high school sweethearts, and that perfect burger.

We were fortunate to have this photo dropped off to us many years ago. We were told in was from 1931 when the A&W opened on Merrill and Main. The Ford Model A Tudor Sedan is a 1928. Hope you were able to join us for 1.95 Cheese Curds and 1.95 Turtles Sundaes. Today is the last day, We hope to see you at the Drive In. We appreciate all the kind words this week.

Wisconsin White Cheddar Cheese Curds and Turtles are only 1.95 the rest of the week. We truly appreciate everyone sharing there memories and hope we will see you at the Drive In.

In 1931 A&W opened on Merril and Main. We are excited to be celebrating 95 years later with our famous WISCONSIN CHEESE CURDS for 1.95 and 1.95 TURTLE SUNDAES from August 17th thru the 21st. Please share your memories and we will pick a winner for Cheese Curds for a year. You will receive 52 Free Curds. We will also give 5 customers, randomly picked, a 95 year Fond du Lac Anniversary Shirt for liking and sharing this post. We hope we will see you at the Drive In celebrating 95 years.
