As many of you know, we recently closed Scallywags Pizza and Southern Shores Eats & Drinks so we could focus on family, health, and our passion for coffee.

Today, we're excited to announce our next chapter:

We wanted to take a moment to wish the team at Waffles R Wild the very best as they begin their exciting new chapter at 217 N. McKenzie Street in Downtown Foley.

As many of you know, this is the space that Scallywags called home, and we're thrilled to see another local business bringing new energy, great food, and a fresh experience to our community.

They're working hard to transform the space into something special, featuring a speakeasy atmosphere, made-from-scratch favorites, craft cocktails, weekly entertainment, and a place where friends and family can gather and make memories.

Small businesses are the heart of Downtown Foley, and we encourage everyone to follow their journey, support local, and stop by when they open their doors.

Please give them a warm Foley welcome and show them the same love and support you've shown us over the years. We can't wait to see what they create!

As the lights have gone out for the final time at Scallywags, we're sitting here overwhelmed by the love, support, and kindness this community has shown us over the last few days.

To everyone who came in for one last pizza, one last sandwich, one last drink, one last laugh, or simply to give us a hug and wish us well—thank you. You filled our dining room, our bar, and most importantly, our hearts. The outpouring of support was more than we could have ever imagined.

When we announced our closing, we weren't sure what to expect. What we received was a reminder of why we started this journey in the first place: the people. The families who became regulars. The friends we made along the way. The customers who became part of our extended family.

To our incredible staff—there are not enough words. Thank you for believing in us, standing beside us, working long hours, and caring about this place as if it were your own. You laughed with us, struggled with us, celebrated victories with us, and helped create memories that we will carry for the rest of our lives. Scallywags was never just a building or a business—it was the people inside it, and you were a huge part of that.

This decision was one of the hardest we've ever made. But after health challenges, family responsibilities, and a lot of soul-searching, we knew it was time to focus on what matters most—our family, our health, and preserving the family legacy that means so much to us.

While this chapter has ended, the memories will remain forever. Every birthday celebration, every date night, every family dinner, every pizza shared around a table, every smile, every conversation—we'll carry them with us.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for allowing us to be part of your lives. Thank you for supporting a local family-owned business. Thank you for the friendships. Thank you for the memories. Thank you for the love.

This isn't goodbye to the people we've met along the way. It's simply farewell to a chapter that we'll always treasure.

With a heavy heart, and after a lot of going back and forth, we have made the difficult decision to close Scallywags. Our last day will be Saturday, May 30th.

As many of you know, Mark suffered a heart attack a couple of years ago. Since then, we’ve also taken on the responsibility of continuing a 25+ year family business while running our coffee shop as well. After much thought and prayer, we know this decision is the right one for our health, our family, and our future.

Closing Scallywags will allow us to focus on what matters most — our health, our family, keeping our family legacy alive with Majestic Forge, and continuing to do what we truly love: roasting coffee.

A new restaurant will be taking over our kitchen assets and the building beginning June 1st. They’ll be serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Please give them a couple of weeks to get settled and open, and then come out and show them lots of love and support as they begin their new adventure.

We are beyond thankful for every single person we’ve met during this journey, the friendships we’ve made, and especially the incredible support from our family and community over the last 4½ years. We also want to send a huge thank you and so much love to our incredible staff — thank you for your hard work, loyalty, laughter, and for being part of the Scallywags family. We truly could not have done this without you.

Before we turn off the lights, come join us these last few days for your favorite breakfast, lunch sandwich, pizza, or one more meal with us. We would love to see all of your familiar faces one more time and help us clear out the kitchen so nothing goes to waste.

This isn’t goodbye — you can still come see us in GS for our famous Bushwacker Coffee at Southern Shores Coffee, along with our fresh roasted coffee that we love sharing with all of you.
