UPDATE FROM NIGHTLIGHT FOUNDATION
We are pleased to announce that Nightlight Foundation is in the process of transitioning to a new operating model that will enhance our ability to support individuals with autism and intellectual disabilities through affordable housing, continuing education and vocational options within our community.
As part of this transition, we are closing the Nightlight Ice Cream shop in Flourtown, PA at the end of this year. Although we are closing this physical location, Nightlight Ice Cream and Nightlight Foundation will continue to operate in partnership with other organizations to further the objectives we set out to achieve eight years ago.
I’d like to personally thank everybody who contributed to the success of Nightlight Ice Cream. We are extremely proud of what we have achieved, and we are profoundly grateful to the many volunteers and dedicated employees who helped us along the way.
Over the past few years, we’ve had the pleasure of working with some of the most inspiring individuals in our community. Dozens of young adults with autism, intellectual disabilities and other special needs have worked at Nightlight Ice Cream, making water ice and scooping ice cream while developing new occupational talents and expanding social skills. We’re delighted that Nightlight Ice Cream has been a rewarding work experience for so many people.
The Springfield community has been extremely supportive to us throughout this journey and we’d like to take a moment to thank all of you. Not only has your patronage been the key ingredient to our success, but through your support and generosity, we’ve been able to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to carry on with our mission.
Stay tuned for some very exciting news to come over the next few months about our new plans and important partnerships that will help us expand this endeavor even further.
In the meantime, on behalf of the Board of Directors of Nightlight Foundation, I would like to wish you all a wonderful holiday season. Thank you for your continued support!
Sincerely,
Alex Viele
Chairman, Nightlight Foundation
