BRRRR! 🌨️We will be moving our New Farm Volunteer Orientation to this SATURDAY 4/11 due to the frigid temperatures today. The Edible Flint Educational Farm Is located at 1628 Beach St. Flint, MI - we will meet Saturday, 4/11, 10am-1pm. I want to also note that if you are unable to make it Saturday we will still be at the farm today 4/7 if you'd like to join us.

If you are joining for either day please dress for the weather in layers as we will be working inside the hoop and outside. Wear closed-toed, comfortable shoes and be aware that the ground is uneven at the farm. I recommend you bring you own water bottles for hydration. We will go over basic procedures and the lay out of the farm - after orientation you are welcome to leave or stay and work on farm projects with us! Parking is next to the red shed or behind the big hoop house.

Today we planted more peas, lettuce, radishes, swiss chard, arugula and bunching onions in the big hoop while we listened to nostalgic music and watched the rain fall. Thank you to those who braved the weather to spend their time at the farm! 🫛

P.S. - Our little free libraries at the farm are stocked with warm handmade hats by Ginny and gloves of all sizes - come grab some to keep you cozy and dry until the sun returns. 1628 Beach St. Flint, MI ☔️

You know spring is in the air at the Edible Flint Educational Farm when MSU Extension stops by to host their Fruit Tree Pruning Workshop!

We loved seeing many new faces join us to learn about the early spring pruning that helps keep Michigan fruit trees flourishing - We even had some little future farmers come by to leave trinkets for our fairies and clean up the fairy tree, they love a good spring clean-up too! 🧚‍♀️

MSUE has so many resources to help guide you when caring for fruit trees. Check out their resource for pruning here: https://www.canr.msu.edu/resources/smart-gardening-pruning-and-training-backyard-apple-and-pear-trees
