After months of dreaming, planning, painting, creating, changing my mind, changing it back, working my ass off, and putting a whole lot of heart into this place…

Marigold Art Collective is ready to OPEN!

Please join us for our GRAND OPENING!

🌼 Friday, October 9 • 4–9 PM 🌼

Come wander through the studio and mercantile, see what we’ve been creating, have a drink, nibble on something delicious, meet some wonderful people, and get a little taste of what Marigold is all about.

While you’re here, Create a Page in History by making a page for our Marigold Year One Guestbook. Throughout our entire first year, we’ll collect pages from the people who walk through our doors, and on our first anniversary, I’ll hand-bind them into a permanent piece of Marigold history.

But most of all, I just want you to come celebrate with us.

Marigold is about creativity, connection, curiosity and community—a place to learn something new, make beautiful things, meet interesting people, gather with friends, and spend a few hours doing something that makes you happy.

And this is only the beginning.

I have SO much planned for this little place—workshops, visiting artists, gatherings, creative retreats, and eventually art adventures around the world—and I cannot wait to share it all with you.

So come raise a glass with us to new beginnings, new adventures, and making room for something beautiful.

You may remember the eye and the little goat from our last post. 👁️🐐

Here, they take on a new life through block printing, joined by a whole gathering of colorful animals and floral details.

There’s something wonderful about seeing a motif move from an idea into something tangible. Carved, inked, and pressed onto fabric, each impression carries the marks of the process and the hand behind it.

The more you look, the more there is to find.

We’re looking for solo artists, duos, and trios to play Friday evenings at Marigold Art Collective in Flat Rock. Think acoustic, jazz, bluegrass, folk, indie, or Americana—music that’s lovely to listen to while people gather, sip, and chat.

Somewhere between the colours, the crowded streets, and the sound of a tuk-tuk passing by, India leaves a mark on you.

This little journal feels like it belongs to a journey. The kind where you wander without rushing, discover something unexpected around every corner, and collect stories along the way.

With its hand-painted tuk-tuk, colourful thread, and pages covered in Indian script, it feels less like a notebook and more like a keepsake from somewhere you have been, or somewhere you are still dreaming of going.

You could spend quite a while getting to know these characters. 🌈

Each one has its own expression, colors, patterns, and peculiar little details. Together, they turn an ordinary shelf into something that feels almost like a tiny gathering of personalities.

That’s what makes folk art so special. It doesn’t always ask to be taken seriously. Sometimes it simply brings color into a room, sparks curiosity, and makes you stop for a second longer than you intended.

Every creature in this room began in someone's two hands.

Shape it while it's soft enough to listen. Carve the pattern in. Then the long patience drying, painting, one petal at a time until a table of brown earth becomes a crowd of color. Cats with flowers down their spines. Birds wearing hearts. A mushroom with a garden for a hat.

Not one of them matches. Not one of them was supposed to. 🌼

Some of the most beautiful things begin in the simplest ways. 🌿

A few twigs, a length of twine, and two hands willing to take their time.

Piece by piece, the materials come together, shaped by hand and guided by intention. What begins as something humble slowly becomes a finished handmade twig loom frame, natural, tactile, and entirely its own.

There’s something special about making things this way. Letting the materials lead, embracing their little imperfections, and finding beauty in the process as much as the finished piece.

At Marigold, we believe beautiful things don’t always need to be perfect. Sometimes, they simply need time, care, and a pair of hands.
