Happy Apple Fest week—and happy anniversary to us! 🍏💛

On September 2, 2023, we opened our little food trailer near the Greenville Highway roundabout and served our very first Honey Creemee®. Three years later, we’re celebrating in Flat Rock with a mostly apple-themed menu chosen by your votes!

This Friday & Saturday:

🍏 Apple Sundae — Honey Creemee® with local apples, sea salt caramel toffee, and your choice of salted peanuts or Biscoff cookies

🍪 Biscoff Sundae — Honey Creemee® with Biscoff cookie butter, Biscoff cookies, whipped cream, and a cherry on top

🥤 Apple Crumble Shake — apple crumble blended into a Honey Creemee® shake

🍏 Sautéed Apples & Honey Creemee® — simple, gluten-free, and delicious

🍏 Local Apple Cider & Ginger Beer Floats

A big thank you to Barnwell’s for providing the local apple cider and the beautiful Suzuki and Jonagold apples we’ll be using this weekend. 💛

And for our anniversary, it feels especially fitting that we’re using Hampton Acres wildflower honey in our Honey Creemee®. This is the very first honey we used when we were developing our recipe before we ever opened! It’s darker and richer than some of the honeys we use throughout the year, and it feels a little like coming full circle having it back in the machine three years later.

Enjoy Apple Fest, then come see us in Flat Rock! 🍏

Friday & Saturday | 12–6 PM

Thank y’all for three wonderful years of Honey Creemee®, fun ideas, local ingredients, and supporting this little dream of ours. We can’t wait to celebrate with you! 💛

It’s Apple Festival Weekend! 🍎 Come enjoy the festival in downtown Hendersonville, then head over to Flat Rock and make a day of it. 💛

Bring your family, your bestie, your significant other — whoever your favorite people happen to be.

Start with dessert first (because why not?) and share a banana split or grab a Honey Creemee with us. Then explore some of the other wonderful small businesses around Flat Rock.

Grab lunch at Hubba Hubba Smokehouse or Flat Rock Village Bakery, browse for something special at The Wrinkled Egg and Dogwood, catch a movie at Flat Rock Cinema, and finish the afternoon with a short drive over to Broom's Blooms and cut some flowers together.

Apple Festival Weekend brings so many people to Henderson County, and while you’re here, we hope you’ll venture just a little farther and spend some time supporting the small businesses around Flat Rock, too. 💛

Some of the best memories come from simple afternoons spent with your favorite people.

We’ll be serving Honey Creemees Friday & Saturday from 12–6 in the old Hubbaloo building.

Enjoy Apple Fest, come explore Flat Rock, and stop in for a Honey Creemee while you’re here. We’d love to see you! 🍦

September 2, 2023 — the day we served our very first Honey Creemee! 🍦🍯

We opened our food trailer near the roundabout on Greenville Hwy on Labor Day weekend, right in the middle of Apple Festival.

And our opening day was… eventful. 😂

Everything was going swimmingly until a customer noticed smoke across the street. Soon we could see flames through the trees, so we called 911.

While we were on the phone — BOOM.

An RV across the road had caught fire, a propane tank exploded and the surrounding woods began catching fire too.

Emergency services arrived and started diverting traffic. Then, because apparently our first day wasn’t exciting enough, people on a motorcycle who were watching everything crashed into the roundabout!

Thankfully, no one was inside the RV and no one was seriously hurt. We were so grateful everyone was safe — and of course, we made sure the emergency responders got some Honey Creemee. 🍦

That first day we sold 22 Honey Creemees and 15 milkshakes.

We didn’t exactly take the world by storm. 😂 But we started.

Hey Chickadee has always been a labor of love and a continuously evolving dream.

And every Apple Festival weekend has found us somewhere different:

2023 — Greenville Hwy
2024 — Osceola Lake
2025 — 7th Avenue
2026 — Flat Rock ❤️

This year feels especially full-circle because we’re once again using Hampton Acres wildflower honey — the honey it all started with. It’s the honey we used to develop our recipe and the honey in those first Honey Creemees we served in 2023.

Four summers later, it’s still a labor of love and a continuous working dream — and we’re so grateful we still get to serve y’all. 🍦🍯

Well, the sun is going down earlier, apple season is in full effect, and somehow this week looks like it’s going to be HOT.

One of the best things about living in WNC is getting all four seasons, but those transition periods are always a little weird 🤪

We wanted to hop on here tonight and say thank you for continuing to support us. Some of y’all have just found us, and some of you have been with us this whole time.

We’re also so glad the new hours are working out! We’ve been seeing some familiar faces we haven’t seen in a while, along with plenty of new ones, and we love that.

And this week is a pretty special one for us.

On September 2, 2023, we opened up and served our very first Honey Creemee.

Opening day was… memorable. 😂

We’ll tell y’all that story tomorrow!

It’s the last weekend in August! How did that happen so fast?

Summer is winding down and we only have three weeks left. With kids back in school, Apple Festival coming up and some of these cooler nights, it definitely feels like fall is right around the corner.

But we’re hanging onto summer flavors for one more weekend! We’ve got peach cobbler, local raspberry and local blackberry for your Honey Creemee.

It’s also the last weekend for lemonade, and we’ve got muscadine lemonade made with local muscadines!

Right now we’re using Hampton Acres honey. This one is pretty special to us — it’s the first honey we ever used and the honey we perfected our Honey Creemee recipe with. And it is delicious!

It’s also really fun to see what the darker honey does to the color of our creemee. It’s a little more tan and almost looks like a maple creemee 🤣

And don’t forget, we’re open 12–6 today! We’re so glad some of y’all have been able to make it with our new hours when you couldn’t before.

Next weekend, we’re switching over to apples. Stay tuned!

We’ll see you soon!

Just a reminder- new hours!See y’all tomorrow!

Just a reminder- new hours!

See y’all tomorrow!

Alright y’all.

41 of you voted for us change our hours to 12 to 6PM.

3 of you voted to keep the current hours.

Since we love the underdogs we’ve decided to keep the same hours!

HAHA! Kidding! We have definitely decided to go with changing our hours to 12-6!

Starting this upcoming weekend.

Thanks to everyone who participated!

This Friday evening, our community is invited to come together to celebrate the extraordinary life and legacy of Dolly Parton — a woman whose music touched generations, but whose kindness, generosity and love for others may be her greatest legacy of all.

🎶 Dolly Parton Tribute
📅 Friday, August 28
⏰ 8:00–9:00 PM
📍 In front of the Historic Henderson County Courthouse

Come share an evening filled with Dolly’s music, memories and the spirit of love and kindness she gave so freely throughout her life.

Bring a small flashlight as we light up downtown Hendersonville together for a special “candlelight” tribute. A DJ will be playing Dolly favorites throughout the evening.

📚 Smart Start Partnership for Children will also be collecting donations for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, helping continue one of the causes closest to Dolly’s heart — putting books into the hands of children.

Dolly gave the world so much more than unforgettable music. She gave us laughter, compassion, generosity and the reminder that a little kindness can go a very long way.

Come sing. Come remember. Come celebrate Dolly. 💗

Friday night, Hendersonville will shine a little brighter for a woman who made the whole world brighter.

The single most helpful thing you can do for pollinators this fall?

Honestly, a little less yard work. 🍂🐝

As the garden winds down, resist the urge to cut everything to the ground and rake it all away. Loads of native bees spend the winter tucked inside hollow plant stems, and a layer of fallen leaves shelters pollinators and beneficial insects through the cold months.

So leave the standing stems. Leave a blanket of leaves in the beds. Let the messy corners stay a little messy. Your yard turns into winter housing, and you get to put the rake down.

Permission to do less: granted. 🙌🏻
