Being a student-athlete is about much more than what happens during a game. It means balancing schoolwork, practices, games, and responsibilities while still being a positive influence on the people around you. In volleyball, every point depends on teamwork, communication, effort, and trust—and great teammates understand that how you represent your school and your team matters just as much as the final score.

We’re not exactly sure how it started, but our basement door keeps mysteriously collecting decals.
Bands, local businesses, sports, breweries, random stuff… they just keep appearing.
And you know what? We kinda like it.
So we’ve decided to just let it happen. If you happen to have a cool decal that deserves a spot on The Brick’s Basement Door, well… we’re not saying you should sneak one on there.
But we’re not saying you shouldn’t either. 😏

Festus Tigers Brick Student Athlete of the Week is — Ava Karr!
The Brick is proud to recognize Ava Karr, a junior and member of the Girls Tennis team, as this week’s Student Athlete of the Week!
Ava is a leader both on and off the court. As Student Council President-elect, she works hard to support and motivate her fellow students, and she brings that same energy to her tennis team. Her coach describes her as positive, uplifting, hardworking, and an important part of the team.
Being a great student athlete isn’t just about wins and stats—it’s about leadership, sportsmanship, character, and making the people around you better. Ava is a great example of all four.

Aden represents what being a student athlete is all about. He competes hard, treats teammates and opponents with respect, and shows great sportsmanship both on and off the field. He’s the kind of teammate who encourages others, puts the team first, and leads by example.
Hard work and athletic ability are important, but character, respect, and being a good teammate matter just as much. Aden demonstrates all of those qualities.
