As you guys know, I haven’t been feeling my best lately. My autoimmune stuff has been reminding me — rather loudly — that sometimes my body simply isn’t going to cooperate the way I want it to.
And I’ve realized something: I have to start treating myself like something I love. That includes what I put in my body. I may be suffering because I love brown gravy and banana pudding a little too much!
Food is comfort. Food is celebration. Food brings people together. But food is also fuel — and delicious does NOT have to mean heavy or unhealthy every single time.
So you’re going to start seeing a little more balance from us each week.
I’ve been rolling out the “Healthy Hippie” here, there and everywhere, playing with recipes and figuring out how we can give you meals that still taste like Grateful Fed while also giving you some lighter, feel-good options.
This Wednesday is a perfect example:
CHICKEN & BROCCOLI DINNER
Tender chicken, fresh steamed broccoli and white rice with our homemade honey-soy-ginger sauce, a veggie egg roll and homemade dessert.
Chicken gives you a great source of protein, broccoli brings fiber and nutrients, rice gives you energy — and that sauce makes the whole thing taste ridiculously good. It’s lighter, it’s satisfying, and you are absolutely not sitting there feeling like you’re eating “diet food.” (because you are not)
Then Thursday?
We go full comfort food.
Homestyle beef or turkey meatloaf, roasted potatoes, roasted squash, zucchini, eggplant and onion, a dinner roll and dessert.
THAT is what I want these two nights to become.
One night might be a little lighter and fresher. One night might be the hearty comfort meal you’ve been craving. Both nights are hot, homemade and READY TO ROCK.
And YES — Family Four-Packs are available!
Now for the little bit of business reality behind all of this:
For these two weekly dinner nights to really work for us, we need to be around 50 dinners each night.
We LOVE doing this. I love being able to cook dinner for your family, make your Wednesday a little easier and give you something homemade without you having to grocery shop, prep, cook and clean up.
So if you want to see these dinner nights continue and grow, HELP US SPREAD THE WORD.
Share the post. Tag your friend who hates figuring out what’s for dinner. Send it to the busy mom. Tell your coworkers. Grab a Family Four-Pack and eat together.
And don’t forget our MOM MEALS!
Have a student at Longwood or Hampden-Sydney that could use a little home-cooked love? Order them dinner. Put a message from Mom, Dad, Grandma — whoever — in the checkout notes and we’ll put it right on their box.
Sports team? Student organization? Group of friends who want to eat dinner together? Talk to us. We’d LOVE to bring dinner over and let them sit down and eat like a family. These are perfect for civic club eventing meetings as well.
That part right there is why we do what we do.
Good food. Real food. Food that makes life a little easier.
Sometimes comfort food.
Sometimes food that fuels you.
Always made with love at Grateful Fed.
