Yesterday we celebrated the graduation of a former employee, dear friend and brother in Christ. Dan came to work for us last year… a broken addict struggling through a series of short term rehabs and halfway houses. Our heart went out to him and we saw a future even when he saw nothing but an abusive past and a painful present. The healing power of Jesus Christ was a foreign concept for him but we convinced him that he had nothing to lose and everything to gain by committing to a 13 month rehabilitation and restoration program in Johnstown. I became familiar with Peniel Rehab when I had tried to get my son there before he passed away in 2021 but the money necessary was not available to us. This time was different ! Dan miraculously agreed to go. Bittersweet Gives with the help of Community of Hope was able to send him the very next day ! 13 months have passed and we are so proud of Dan and the incredible work he has undertaken, proud of Bittersweet Gives, that in my son’s name and with the generosity of many has brought beauty from ashes , proud to be affiliated in any way with the mountain organization Community of Hope and its incredible people and especially Pe**al, a place where miracles happen in Jesus name ! This truly is just the beginning. We will be having our third annual Golf Scramble fundraiser for Bittersweet Gives on Saturday, September 19 to raise money for just such miracles ! Dan, I know you don’t have a phone yet but when you do……you rock ! You are prayed over, rejoiced over and now we will wait for the rest of the story !
