From Chef Bernie's daughter, Jennie : First of all, our dad is still with us, he is just recovering from a serious health issue...
To our dear community, our family, friends and associates,
It is with great sadness, and with consent from our dad, the Four Corners Area, San Juan County’s one and only Chef Bernie, that we are announcing the closure of Chef Bernie’s Restaurant and Cafeteria, one of Farmington’s longest standing restaurants, and a true Farmington Icon; 55+ years in business.
At this time, we only want to focus on the health and wellness of our dad, and due to a medical emergency in February, Mr. Bernie just needs to focus on getting better and stronger each day.
We just really want to thank each and every one of our community members for your years of supporting a family business and making it possible for our dad to live his dream.
Chef Bernie’s carries a multitude of memories for so many people, and for us, his children. Each one of us, immediate and extended family members processed thru the restaurant, some of us at an early age and some later in life. Staff members became family; some were 2nd and 3rd generation employees. Many in our community carry memories from Chef Bernie’s for generations. At one time or another, Chef Bernie’s was a stopping point for local, county, state and federal government dignitaries that came thru during their campaign. Our dad served his community, his state and government well, catering to not just dignitaries, but also to the people, the dine’, and even those down on their luck. Our dad, Mr. Chef Bernie, his sister Corky and we his children appreciate your loyalty for so many years to Chef Bernie’s Restaurant and Cafeteria.
