From a family kitchen on Detroit’s west side to the James Beard House, Café | Cortina has carried the same table, the same hospitality, and the same family through every chapter.

Twenty years ago we cooked at Beard for our 30th. Tonight, Chef Ernesto carries that legacy forward for our 50th.

20 years ago, Café | Cortina took Detroit to the James Beard House.

20 years ago, we took Café | Cortina to the famed James Beard House in New York City to celebrate 30 years of family, food, and Detroit. Chef Hoffa was leading the kitchen, and Adrian Tonon is narrating this footage we’ve held onto ever since.

Today we’re celebrating 50 years. Chef Ernesto carries the torch now, honoring the legacy alongside the Tonon family.
