The Fish Wagon The Fish Wagon is a local food business in Farmer City, IL. It was originally established in 1999 and will be making a re-opening in the spring of 2015.

The Fish Wagon is a family-ran, local food business in the small town of Farmer City, IL located on the main highway of Route 54. When this journey began over 15 years ago in our small, mobile-food unit, the volume of business grew faster than we could have ever expected. What started out as a fun project and weekend hobby, The Fish Wagon continued to gain success year after year for over 10 years

. That’s all thanks to the tremendous and endless support we’ve always received from our loyal customers and local community. We are excited to announce that the time has come and we’ve cleared our schedules. Due to popular demand, the decision has been made. The Fish Wagon will be making a return to start serving those delicious fish sandwiches you’ve all missed so much. We’ve expanded to a bigger, permanent structure with indoor seating and will now be open 6 days a week! (Tuesday-Sunday) The hours have also extended from 11am-9pm. Serving the same great recipes as before:
Fish Sandwiches, Catfish Dinners, NEW: Fresh Home-made Fries & Onion Rings, Burgers, Italian Beef Sandwiches, BBQ Pork Sandwiches, and more! FRESH, Made-to-order Food! Great lunch specials! Fun, Family-friendly environment. Convenient (Carry-out, Dine-in seating).

A Heartfelt Thank You from The Fish Wagon:

Wow, what an incredible journey it has been! As we celebrate over 10 amazing years of serving our community, we want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you. Your support, loyalty, and friendship have meant the world to us, and we are truly grateful for the memories we've shared along the way.

It’s with mixed emotions that we announce our final day of operation will be Saturday, June 28, 2025. While we look forward to new adventures, we will always cherish the relationships we've built and the delicious moments we've shared.

We also want to let you know that The Fish Wagon is for sale as we prepare for our final day of operation. If you or someone you know is interested in owning a beloved local business with a loyal customer base, please reach out — we’d love to pass the torch to someone who will continue to serve the community with the same commitment and passion.

Thank you for being a part of our family and for making The Fish Wagon a special place in your lives. We hope to see you one last time before we close our doors!

Stop & shop local this weekend at some of the great, locally-owned businesses that Farmer City has to offer!

Start your morning off right with Farmer Tan & Spa for one of their delicious iced coffee drinks and grab a homemade muffin before you head downtown to shop at The Mischievous Monkeys for that "must-have" item you will immediately fall in love with (or just grab yourself a fresh bouquet 💐). Don't forget to wear your derby hat tomorrow for a free gift!

Then, head next door to visit some of the coolest merchants that Farmer City has to offer at Farmer City Glass. Explore their showroom full of beautiful hand-blown glass. These creations are all unique and carefully crafted pieces of artwork and offered at an affordable price.

Next on your trip, head on up the Main Street block and around the corner to visit the girls at Sweet Marie's She Shed (114 W. Green). They're always happy to see you and offer a great selection of seasonal items both old and new. You won't leave there empty handed!
