With all of your help I was able to write a check out to Southcoast Health's Camp Angel Wings for a total of $1700. I have another check for $100 written out to them from AVO'S FEAST for a grand total of $1800. This is going to help so many kids for next year's camp.

I can't begin to express how grateful I am for this community. I will continue to show up for you just like you did for me.

We did this together! And we will keep doing it together. β€οΈπŸ¦‰πŸ•

****EDIT****

Another Flint business has stepped up. Elizabeth's Electrology & Laser Hair Removal just donated another $100! Bringing the total to $1900!!! Almost double my original goal!!

For many years, the Owl stood as a beacon in the Flint neighborhood, a symbol of hope, hard work, integrity, and community. It represented the dream of a family whose multiple generations worked tirelessly to provide good food and a welcoming place where the community could come together.

Then, the Owl went dark. For years, it stood silent, while the neighborhood and the world around it changed.

Then along came another dreamer with a vision to bring new life to an old dream. Once again, generations came together, working side by side for many months to restore not only the building, but the spirit, the memories, and the dream behind it.

Today, the journey continues. Multiple generations of the Levesque family are working together to bring kindness, hope, good food, and a renewed sense of community to the Flint.

And as Raymond the Guardian of the Flint watches over us all, I leave you with one simple question:

What neighbor will you help today? πŸ¦‰β€οΈπŸ•

I was going to do a live to announce the earnings and the name but I don't think I can make it through without tearing up and voice cracking. Lol so I'm gonna write it out.

Two kids 25 years ago created two children together and did the best we could with the circumstances we had. One of our bodies failed and the other went on living and raised their kids with the help of family.

Fast forward to this weekend their kids are all grown up and watching from near and far. They watched the city of Fall River come together for our story and most never met us. They came together for children they don't even know. They came together to honor their mom who most had never known. They came together just because they care. This is the real Fall River.

We raised $1194 for a camp that most people didn't even know existed. That was straight donations. I sold 216 pizzas for a total of $432 and 54 Del's for $54. That's a total of $1680 going to Camp Angel Wings in Jessica's memory.

For a girl who grew up in Wareham, lived in Fairhaven and only moved to Fall River when we got together she sure had a lot of people stop by. I had no idea how many lives she touched. Countless people came through saying they knew her.

I couldn't be more proud of my city. I couldnt be more proud of my family. And I couldn't be more proud to donate this money to Camp Angel Wings.

Thank you everyone who came through to donate and to share stories of Jessica. I'm so thankful and grateful for everyone. I can't express how this makes me feel.

Fall River always shows up. And my promise to you is that I will always show up too. When we stick together, we rise together! β€οΈπŸ•πŸ¦‰πŸͺ½

Another successful day! I have to thank everyone who waited in that line. I hope everyone enjoyed their pizzas! Sold all 108 and eight of them in 4.5 hours. You guys rock! I'm cleaning the diner then when I get home we'll do the name and grand total for the donations. We definitely surpassed what I thought we would do. I appreciate you all. β€οΈπŸ¦‰πŸ•πŸͺ½

We had a group of special visitors yesterday. Engine 9 came through to donate to the Camp Angel Wings fundraiser as well as pick up their pizzas!

We will be slinging pizza starting at 1 today. Walk ups only. We have over a hundred pizza balls. Same thing as yesterday. We sold out around 6 pm. Come on down grab a pizza. Remember that $2 for every pizza sold and $1 for Del's gets donated to Camp Angel Wings. You also get a cool little Nite Owl sticker for donating!

The man, the myth, the legend... standing with Ziad Nasrallah. Lol. Just kidding. Z stopped by to support the cause! Be like Z support Camp Angel Wings this weekend. Every pizza sold equals $2 to the camp and every Del's is $1. Or you can just come donate and get a cool Nite Owl sticker Jennifer Brogan donated to the cause! When we stick together we rise together! β€οΈπŸ¦‰πŸ•πŸͺ½

***Edit... I meant to also say between sales and just flat out donations today we have almost $400 for Camp Angel Wings. I'm thinking we could get to $1000. I found out that every single dollar goes to the children. Nothing will go to any administration fees or anything like that so I'm super excited about that!

I ok'd this post with my kids first. I didn't want to air something so deeply personal without their permission. They both were happy to share this.

This is Jessica Watson, the mother of my two oldest children. She got pregnant with my oldest son when we were 18. She had an unknown to us condition that would've come out at some point in her life, but the pregnancy kicked it into full effect. She was diagnosed after the birth of my son with Anti-GBM, an autoimmune disease that is very similar to the more common Good Pastures Syndrome. Because she had to wait for the birth of my son before getting a biopsy she lost the use of both of her kidneys. She was just a kid!

Somehow my oldest daughter was conceived. Yes I understand the logistics of that lol but people on dialysis don't get pregnant. Somehow Jessica did. Our daughter was born early, in the car on the way to the hospital. Jessica did everything while I freaked out and ran around the car like a cartoon.

Fast forward 10 years. We were no longer together as a couple but co-parenting to the best of our abilities. We had a good system going. And then we didn't. Stuff got messy for a bit.

On Aug 30, 2011 I got the call that she had died. She had a massive stroke. Years of dialysis, transplants, transplants failing and dialysis again took a toll on her body. It was sustainable for only so long. She was so incredibly strong but eventually her body gave out.

She died thinking I hated her. It bothers me to this day. Like a lot. Because I didn't. This fact is why I am the way I am today. Why I am who I am.

I will do whatever I can to treat another human with love and respect. Because there are things you can't take back especially after someone is gone and I never want my last interaction with someone to be a negative one.

After her death I sent my children to Camp Angel wings, a bereavement camp for children 6-15 ran by South Coast hospitals at Camp Welch in Assonet. It's for children who lost someone, it can be anyone, brother, sister, grandparent, parents, cousin... Anyone. It's a two day camp where they're broken into age specific groups and do activities that help process the grief.

I've never had any way to honor Jessica before. Every August 30 is a quiet day for my family. We always acknowledge it but never did anything to truly honor her. This year is going to be different.

This weekend I'll be open from 1pm till I'm out of dough on Saturday and Sunday. I will have a little over 100 pizzas both days so no need to run lol. I will be donating $2 from every pizza and $1 from every Del's sold to Camp Angel Wings in Jessica's name. I will also leave out a jar for donations if you're inclined to donate.

When we stick together we rise together. πŸ¦‰β€οΈπŸͺ½
