is closed from June 1-5 so park staff can repair an area damaged by a landslide from last week’s rains. If you’ve planned to come visit and support the area this week, here’s ten things you can do while the park is closed:
1.) Visit Lake Lure’s public beach which is now open. 🏊♀️
2.) Visit and see their fairy gardens. 🧚
3.) Go Hiking at 🥾
4.) Rent a boat for the whole family from - they’re pet friendly! 🚤
5.) Mine for gems at
6.) Check out the impressive rock gardens built by at Smokey Mountain Cowboy. 🪨
7.) Try Axe Throwing or the Escape Room at 🪓
8.) Visit to pick your own lavender, enjoy treats from their bakery, and see the many beautiful flowers blooming in their flower fields. Last week’s floods did hit some of their fields so they are in need of support. 🌻
9.) Visit the many shops and restaurants in Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. 🛍️ Here’s a list:

10.) While visiting all these amazing local businesses be sure to check out the Green Salamander Art trail- a scavenger hunt for works of art by local artists featuring Hickory Nut Gorge’s most elusive resident the Green Salamander! Did you know Hickory Nut Gorge is the only place in the world where they exist? Grab a scavenger hunt sheet from participating businesses and find as many as you can while learning about what makes them so special. 🦎
