It has been one year since our precious Gabriela lost her battle with breast cancer.
It’s hard to believe that an entire year has passed since we last held her, heard her laugh, or felt her presence. In some ways, this year has gone by so quickly, and in others, it feels like a lifetime. The truth is, losing her hasn’t gotten easier. We have simply learned how to carry the loss while continuing to love and remember her. We find comfort in knowing that Gabriela is no longer hurting. She is healed, she is whole, and she is in Heaven. While that doesn’t take away the ache of missing her, it gives us hope and makes the hurt a little easier to bear.
Today, on the one-year anniversary of her passing, we are honored to officially launch The Foundation of Grace, created in Gabriela’s memory and inspired by the way she lived her life.
Gabriela was loving, compassionate, and deeply empathetic. Even while facing the unimaginable challenges of her own cancer journey, she continued to care about the people around her. She had a beautiful ability to see the struggles of others and respond with kindness and grace. We want her legacy to be more than a memory. We want it to be something that continues to help, encourage, and bring hope to others. The Foundation of Grace was created to provide support to individuals and families experiencing hardships due to illness. Through this foundation, we hope to extend the same compassion Gabriela showed others and remind people during some of their darkest moments that they are not alone.
Today marks the beginning of something incredibly meaningful to our family. We know Gabriela would be proud.
