Yes, it’s October. Yes, you can drink cold brew hot. It isn’t just a summer drink! Warm it up (just don’t boil it), and everything that made it smooth in July is still there in October, just in a mug instead of over ice. October is here and so are the fall festivals! We're kicking off the month at the Vandalia Fall Festival on Saturday, October 10, then heading to the Fairborn Halloween Festival Friday through Sunday, October 16-18. The following weekend, October 24-25, we'll be at the BSA Haunted Classic Soccer Tournament, and we're wrapping up the month at Rip Rap Halloween Fest on Saturday, October 31. Hard to believe we're nearing the end of BARge season!

October is here, and the fall event run is on. The BARge will be at the Vandalia Fall Festival on Saturday from 12 to 5 PM at the Vandalia Sports Complex. Conflooence will be open Friday from 10 AM to 5:30 PM but CLOSED Saturday due to the festival.

We have been looking forward to this one all season. The Wagner Subaru Outdoor Experience takes over Eastwood MetroPark this weekend, and the BARge will be there for both days, Saturday from 11 AM to 10 PM and Sunday from 11 AM to 5 PM. Paddling, climbing, biking, live music, and a whole park full of people trying something new. There is also something fitting about Fifty5 Rivers pouring at an event put on by Five Rivers MetroParks. Come get your favorite beverage or try a new one in between adventures!

Happy International Coffee Day. Plenty of people have quit coffee because it did not sit well with them, and we hear about it often. Here is what usually gets missed: heat pulls the harsh, acidic compounds out of a bean, and cold brew coffee never sees any. No heat, far less of that acidity, and a cup that a lot of people can drink without paying for it later. If you gave up on coffee, today is a good day to give this one a shot.
