Not my usual ice cream content today but I wanted to share about something near to my heart…
When a school closes, it’s not just a building that’s lost — it’s connection, opportunity, and hope for our kids.
Families in Two Rivers have been driving 25–30 minutes each way just to get their kids to class since the local school shut down.
The proposed HomeSTEAD Charter School would bring education back home — teaching kids to work hard, problem-solve, and build real skills like welding, woodworking, and growing food.
It’s hands-on, self-reliant learning made for Alaska — and it could also help ease the strain on overcrowded schools in Fairbanks and North Pole.
The School Board votes November 18th, and local voices matter. If this vision for education speaks to you, show your support — fill out the intent-to-enroll form, email the board, or testify on zoom or in person.
This is our chance to grow something lasting — right here, in our community. 🌱
