To the Wonderful Community of Excelsior Springs,
We want to share an important update regarding the future of El Maguey. Effective June 29, 2026, the restaurant is under new management.
First and foremost, we want to assure our community that El Maguey remains entirely family owned and operated. We are not a corporate chain or franchise we are a family business that has always been committed to serving Excelsior Springs and supporting the communites we proudly call home.
We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to the Garcia family for their many years of dedication and service. They have been an important part of this restaurant's history, and we truly appreciate the hard work and contributions they made throughout their time here.
We would also like to clarify something that may have been misunderstood over the years. Every sponsorship, donation, fundraiser, and community contribution made in the name of El Maguey has always come directly from the business itself. Supporting our schools, local organizations, first responders, youth programs, and community events has always been part of our family's commitment to Excelsior Springs. While many individuals have represented El Maguey over the years, those contributions have always reflected the values, generosity, and commitment of the business and our family. We want our community to know that this commitment is not changing, it will continue just as it always has.
Decisions like this are never easy, and they are never made lightly. We understand that changes can bring questions, concerns, and differing opinions. However, after careful thought and consideration, we made the difficult decision that this transition was necessary to protect the long term future of the restaurant. While there is much more to this situation than what is visible publicly, we believe that certain matters are best handled privately out of respect for everyone involved. Our intention has never been to create division or invite public debate, but rather to do what we believe is right for the future of El Maguey.
Although this was never intended to become a public discussion, we felt it was important to address the situation openly and honestly. We recognize that not everyone will agree with every decision we make, but leadership sometimes requires making difficult choices for the long term success of the business and the people who depend on it.
Looking ahead, our focus is simple: serving delicious food, providing exceptional service, and creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere for every guest who walks through our doors. We are committed to earning your trust every day, restoring the restaurant to the standards our customers expect, and continuing to be a business that Excelsior Springs can be proud of.
To everyone who has supported El Maguey over the years thank you. Your loyalty, patience, and encouragement mean more to us than words can express. We look forward to serving this community for many years to come and beginning this new chapter together.
