This is K’s today—but I want to take you back to where it actually began. 🥹
Before the coffee, smoothies, yogurt bowls, lunch rushes and a building of our own, K’s started with meal prep inside a space I rented at The Creekside.
One of these photos was taken the first time I made more than 100 meals. I remember how massive that number felt. I was proud, probably exhausted and had absolutely no idea what that little milestone was eventually going to become.
After a year and a half at Creekside, I took another chance and brought K’s into its first rented space in town.
Who would have thought a meal-prep service coming to Evansville would take off the way it did? At that point, we were sending out more than 1,000 items every week and delivering throughout Southern Wisconsin. We grew so quickly that after two and a half years, I had to break my lease because we had already outgrown the space.
Then came the biggest leap yet, buying my own building.
What followed was months of construction, renovations, decisions, setbacks and trying to turn an empty space into the version of K’s. We’ve now called this building home for five years, and somehow, we’ve continued changing and growing inside it, too.
K’s looks very different today than it did in that rented kitchen at Creekside. We serve so much more. Our team is bigger. Our space is bigger. The vision is bigger.
But the reason behind it has never changed.
It is still about making good food, taking care of people and creating something that makes life a little easier and a little better for the community around us.
Different, but still the same.
Nine years later, K’s is still being built one meal, one drink, one customer and one brave next step at a time.
And this Friday and Saturday, we get to celebrate everything it took to get here.
