Dear Patrons,
Last week we received notice that some of our customers were infected with a parasite called Cyclospora. Cyclopora is found in raw produce and water, it most likely entered our establishment through legally sourced food from reputable providers. This parasite was in no way spread at any fault of The GNAR or of the Provider. We maintained excellent food safety and handling during this time as we have for 10 years now. This was a fluke that spawned from the farm at which the produce was grown and was impossible for us detect. The moment we heard about this we began working with the local and state health and environmental specialists to investigate and determine what this came from and how this happened. At this point we have completely re-sourced our produce to eliminate the risk of further contamination, all the old inventory has been destroyed and extra measures have been made to sanitize and avoid any cross contamination. Although this was a situation that we could not, nor would we of, had the foresight to avoid, we are saddened by the discomfort and issues it has caused our patrons and staff. It is an ugly illness that plagued our staff as well. We urge people to seek medical attention if it persists and ask that you find it in your hearts to recognize that you are all in our minds and hearts with every decision we make and we would never do anything to jeopardize the health or happiness of the people that have made us who we are.
Love,
The GNAR
