In addition to creating more variety and flexibility for our patients, this program also supports our clinical staff through the availability of nutritional options outside of traditional meal periods. Missouri Delta Medical Center and Morrison Healthcare are expanding opportunities for a changing workforce with the use of mobile telepresence robots operated by remote Patient Dining Associates. 🤖 The teams recently piloted “Molly MoMo,” using live video that allows the remote associate to speak directly with patients, maintaining personal connection during the meal ordering process while allowing on-site associates to focus on meal assembly and delivery. During the pilot, over 1,500 orders were completed using Molly MoMo, with fewer reports of patients receiving incorrect meals and positive reception from both patients and staff. Our teams within the Lee Region conducted their 2nd annual Flavor Fusion chef event at Inova Fairfax Hospital, where 5 chefs competed in a Chopped-style event, creating GLP-1-friendly dishes using mystery items revealed that same day. Before the competition, chefs received a crash course on what a GLP-1-friendly plate should look like from Clinical Nutrition Manager Bridget Lane. Final dishes were judged by a panel of 8 individuals from our clinical and nursing teams, regional leadership, and even special guests Jennifer Shepherd and Sarah Gray from the American Nurses Association and Healthy Nurse, Healthy Nation, who declared Executive Chef Brighdin Nemec the winner and new owner of the Flavor Fusion belt.

In addition to the competition, Inova has invested time and resources into supporting GLP-1 diets to provide nutrition for all appetites, including offering retail items that are protein-forward, calorie-conscious, and specially labeled as GLP-1 friendly.
