Tandoori Hut Indian Cuisine, located at the corner of 26th Street and Washington Avenue, is home to the best Tandoori Chicken in Erie, Pennsylvania. Our affordable and authentic Indian menu also includes the top selling Chicken Tikka Masala (ask for the no. 46), Chicken Makhani (no. 47, our version of butter chicken), our popular Vegetable Samosa appetizer, and much more. Plus, while we specialize in spicy food, we offer you a range — mild, medium, and spicy — and our staff can help you decide what’s best. Other favorites include our fresh baked Naan bread, made from scratch daily by the chef in a traditional tandoor/mud oven (it reaches up to 600 degrees Fahrenheit!). And our desserts are all homemade, including our top selling Gulab Jamun (a sweet pastry) and the Rasmalai (cottage cheese and milk, flavored with rose water and garnished with nuts). Our new dining room, more than double the size of our old location, is the perfect place to sit down and have a casual family meal. Or, feel free to call ahead and we’ll have it ready for you by dinner time. We have multiple vegetarian options, and we can work with different kinds of food allergies and diets. Owner Dharma Gurung, a member of the Erie Reader’s “40 Under 40,” was born in India and spent the first part of her life in Nepal. She would often share a curry with her family growing up, with many of the same spices showing up in Tandoori Hut’s food. When she took over the restaurant in 2018, Dharma became the only female restaurant owner under 30 in the entire city. Being a vegetarian, Dharma’s favorite meal on the menu is the Aloo Gobi — ask for no. 66 to get the delicious cauliflower and potato dish. She is also a member of the Bhutanese Community Association of Erie (BCAE) and the Mayor's New American Council.
