Rich, velvety and incredibly smooth, The Herdsman opens with aromas of chocolate, pipe to***co, red licorice and toasted oak, followed by plush flavors of blackberry, blueberry, mocha and barrel spice. Full-bodied with soft, polished tannins and a long, smooth finish, this is a fantastic Cabernet for steak, prime rib or a hearty pasta dinner. The blend is 78% Cabernet Sauvignon with Petit Verdot and Petite Sirah, aged for 17 months to add depth and texture.

The Giguiere family has deep roots in California's Dunnigan Hills, beginning as wheat farmers before planting vineyards in the early 1980s. John and Lane Giguiere went on to establish R.H. Phillips Winery and later founded Matchbook Wine Company, returning to their family-farming roots and producing estate-grown wines from the Dunnigan Hills. The Herdsman celebrates that ranching and farming heritage while showcasing what this lesser-known California wine region can do with Cabernet Sauvignon.
