We’re back home and back to firing up the pits!

Over the past several weeks, Old Grunt BBQ had the incredible opportunity to travel to Seneca, SC and help establish Lakeside Smokehouse. It was an amazing experience, and we’re grateful for everyone who helped make it a success.

Now that we’re back, we’re officially taking orders for our slow smoked, mouthwatering BBQ!

🔥 Pulled Pork Butts – $60 each
🔥 Chicken Leg Quarters – $30 per pan
🔥 Sliced Brisket – $150 each

Ok well we got it done finally today and we will be making another return trip to KC this year. I know we both can’t wait!

Well we finally got actual placement of each of our turn-ins and as well we received our final ranking. All in all not a bad day cooking in a parking lot. I still need to figure out what is missing for our pork and ribs recipes to get higher finishes.

🐔 3rd place out of 25 teams
🐷 14th place out of 25 teams
🍖 17th place out of 25 teams
🐮 8th place out of 30 teams
Side 🥘 5th out of 19 teams

Final standings 9th out of 25 teams. I will take a top 10 finish any day of the week!

The 2026 Buzz-B-Q BBQ Contest, presented by 103.7 The Buzz, brought together some of the top pitmasters, teams, and barbecue fans for a weekend packed with smoke, competition, and championship-caliber food. Teams from across the region fired up their pits to battle in multiple categories, showcasing creativity, consistency, and true barbecue craftsmanship.

Among the standout teams was Old Grunt BBQ, who earned an impressive 3rd Place finish in the Pro Chicken category. Competing against a tough field of talented cooks, Old Grunt BBQ delivered a chicken entry that impressed judges with flavor, tenderness, and presentation, continuing to build their reputation as a rising force on the competition BBQ circuit.

The event highlighted the passion and camaraderie that make competitive barbecue special, while giving fans the chance to experience incredible food, live entertainment, and the unmistakable atmosphere of a major BBQ showdown.

What a weekend at the Rib Cookoff Association World Championship at FireLake Casino in Shawnee, OK (April 17–18)!

We went up against some of the best pitmasters out there and learned a ton along the way.

🔥 Chicken Wings — 98th out of 110
Didn’t come out anything like I had planned, but that’s part of the game. Back to the drawing board on these.

🔥 Baby Back Ribs — 128th out of 145
Missed the mark on tenderness — needed another 45–50 minutes. Small adjustments will make a big difference here.

🔥 St. Louis Ribs — 62nd out of 145
These hit! Really proud of how they turned out and something solid to build on moving forward.

All in all, it was an incredible experience, and we’re grateful for every lesson learned. We’ll take what worked, fix what didn’t, and come back stronger.
