Not every remodel update involves the soda counter.

The bathrooms have been getting plenty of attention too.

Because the walls need to be wipeable and cleanable, they needed a protective finish — but obviously we couldn’t just leave well enough alone first. 😄

One bathroom got a positive message.
The other got bananas.

The main ADA family bathroom is almost finished; we’re just waiting for the baby changing table to arrive.

Practical can still be fun.

Waiting for your table at Insula?

Come play a hand of cribbage.

Seriously.

You are welcome to come into Carbonation, grab a board game, use the Wi-Fi, bring your own snacks or drinks and hang out for a while.

You do not have to have a meeting.
You do not have to rent a room.
You do not even have to be good at cribbage.
Come in. Stay awhile. No rush. ❤️

And on Saturdays, we also have painting projects available — rocks, wood shapes, wood medallions and canvas magnets — along with our anytime craft kits.

A Carbonation confession:

The shop playlist is currently a LOT of Harry Styles.

As in… a lot. 😄

If you have a **clean, family-friendly playlist** you think Carbonation needs to hear, send it our way.

Give me something for mornings.
Something for crafting.
Something for playing board games.
Something that will prevent me from accidentally memorizing every Harry Styles song in order.

Another little step toward soda.

The tile is going up behind the bar!

It is one of those projects that suddenly makes the space start looking less like a construction zone and more like an actual soda shop.

There are still plenty of pieces to finish, but this is the fun part — when all the work we’ve been talking about starts becoming something you can actually see.

This remodel update deserves a very big THANK YOU.

The water and sewer work is good to go. 🙌

We still have some cosmetic work to finish in the back, but the important part is done — including a few moments when the project did not go quite according to plan.

A huge thank you to Marko at Merhars Plumbing and Kris Nyman for the hard work, problem solving and quick thinking along the way.

Old buildings have opinions.

One of my favorite parts of opening Carbonation in the morning happens before anyone else gets here.

I walk through Andy Messerschmidt’s gallery… and I pause.

There is always something different to notice — a color, a texture, a tiny detail I somehow missed the day before.

All of the artwork throughout Carbonation is original work by Andy, and the pieces are available for purchase.

We hear this question a lot:

“When is the soda coming?” 😄

So we’re going to start sharing little Carbonation Remodel Updates as the soda counter comes together.

First up: the kitchen.

This room used to be an office. Now it has to become a real working kitchen — which means new walls, ceiling work, plumbing, equipment and a whole list of things no one sees when they order a soda.

It may not look exciting yet, but this is the kind of progress that gets us closer to pouring drinks.

We’ll keep showing you what changes along the way. The soda is coming. Promise. ❤️

🌕🍂 HARVEST MOON FESTIVAL SATURDAY AT CARBONATION! 🍂🌕

We’ve changed up our craft system — and today is a great day to try it out!

🎨 Saturday Craft: 1–3 PM
Paint a rock, wood medallion, or canvas magnet. We’ll have teens here to help with painting and creating.

$5 per crafter

Or stop in anytime today and choose from the other crafts we’ve been working on all summer! Our new Anytime Crafts are set up so you can choose a project, gather your supplies, and get creating — with a little help when you need it.
