📢Attention Elon Residents: The Norfolk Southern rail replacement project has reached Elon.

The following railroad crossings will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic starting on Monday, September 21, at approximately 7:00 a.m.:

-York Road
-Oak Avenue
-Williamson Avenue
-Church Street

Crossings will reopen when the work is complete. As crossings reopen, updates will be posted on the Town's official social media pages and website.

Motorists and pedestrians should use available detours, follow posted signage, and allow additional travel time. While the crossings are closed, no vehicles or pedestrians should cross the railroad tracks under any circumstances. The tracks will remain active, with trains operating through the area periodically.

For pedestrians, please use the pedestrian tunnel located at corner of S O’Kelly Ave and East Trollinger Ave and at Lindner Hall located on East Lebanon Ave.
