THE ART of BEGINNING AGAIN
The First One -
All edible- Hand painted with buttercream
I haven't shared any new work I've created since my momma passed in 2024.
Somewhere in the middle of grief and unimaginable loss, I stopped seeing what I created.
I stopped seeing what I COULD create.
I lost the ground beneath me.
There were days when my heart simply couldn't do it anymore. I even brought in other cake artists to fulfill orders because I couldn't find my way back to the part of me that once created so freely.
Within two years, I lost my momma, friendships, family, clients, my home(less) and the life I thought I knew.
Since June of 2024, I've been trying to rebuild a life I never imagined losing.
This cake isn't perfect, and neither am I.
But today, I'm choosing to share it.
Maybe healing doesn't happen all at once.
Maybe it happens one cake...
one day...
one brave step at a time.
If it weren't for my momma, I don't know how much of me would still be standing.
She gave me grit.
Determination.
Fierce independence.
The strength to keep going with grace... and somehow, still find a reason to smile.
She was my life support, and I was hers.
Although she's no longer beside me physically, I carry her with me in every brushstroke, every swirl of buttercream, and every act of creating.
I am not the same, nor will I ever be, the woman I was before.
So here's to beginnings.
To new adventures.
To discovering who I am becoming.
And for the first time in a very long time...
I can finally see what these hands—and this heart—are capable of creating again.
From my heart to yours:
For all of you who have been on this journey with me and never faltered, even when I did...
Thank you.
For believing in me when I couldn't always believe in myself.
I humbly & lovingly thank each and every one of you ❤️
